Born in Vietnam, Huy immigrated to the United States at six years old and eventually pursued medicine, although becoming a doctor was not always part of the plan. Initially drawn to business and finance, it was not until residency that he began to feel a genuine sense of purpose in medicine.

Huy shares the difficult moments that tested that commitment, from exhausting residency nights in Cleveland to wondering whether he could keep going. Today, medicine is the very thing he is most grateful he never quit.

Katie and Huy also reflect on the sacrifices their parents made, the guilt that can accompany those sacrifices, and the importance of learning to separate gratitude from responsibility.
