  • Beyond the Scorecard: Gaurav Dhiman’s Untold Journey from India to Reinvention
    2026/09/07

Once regarded as one of India’s brightest young cricketing talents, Gaurav Dhiman represented India at two Under-19 World Cups and finished as the team’s second-highest run-scorer in the 2006 edition. He also produced a remarkable 423-run campaign in the 2005 Afro-Asia Under-19 Cup before representing Karnataka and joining the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore setups.

But his journey did not unfold as expected.

In this deeply personal conversation, Gaurav reflects on performing alongside future stars such as Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja; the difficult transition from youth cricket to the senior level; limited opportunities, injury and mental-health struggles; and the people who helped him rebuild his life.

He also discusses reclaiming his identity through cricket and beginning a new chapter as a player, broadcaster, BCCI Level II coach and Technical Director at Roar Cricket Academy.

This is Gaurav Dhiman’s story—beyond the statistics, expectations and opportunities that never came.
