What happens when the wisest person in the room no longer has all the answers?
In the first full episode of Chatty Geek, Hidden Dragon, Chatty brings Jedi Master Yoda into the imaginary counselling room shortly after the events of Revenge of the Sith.
With the Jedi Order destroyed and Yoda entering exile on Dagobah, we get curious about what might sit beneath centuries of wisdom: grief, responsibility, loss of role, uncertainty, vulnerability — and the strange experience of being the person everyone normally expects to have the answer.
Then, through a counselling lens, we explore honesty and transparency. What does it mean for a counsellor to be truthful about what they know, what they don’t know, and the limits of their expertise? And could acknowledging our limitations sometimes make us more trustworthy rather than less?
Along the way there’s meditation, martial arts, the difficulty of counselling somebody who is several hundred years older than you, and the important question of whether the counselling room has appropriately Yoda-sized furniture.
Spoiler warning: This episode discusses events from Star Wars Episodes II, III, V and VI.
