January was all so encompassing and compelling, it took up about 45 minutes of reminiscing to kick off the Happy Hour Year in Review Spectacular, with host John Gaskins and Sioux Falls Live's Trent Singer rolling through the biggest local sports events of the last twelve months.
After the D1 football dust settled, a dive into the madness of March, when SDSU's women bolted to another Summit League tourney title in Sioux Falls, then beat a Big 12 team in the NCAA Tournament before taking on the titans of the sport at UConn. Back in South Dakota, both history and controversy were taking shape at girls state hoops, followed by redemption for a couple of boys state champions.
