Pain has a way of shrinking your world until the hardest thing is the only thing you can see. So we’re doing the opposite today: lifting our eyes until God is back in his rightful place, bigger than our trouble and clearer than our fear. The anchor truth sounds simple, but it’s strong enough for real life: God is omnibenevolent, which means God is good all the time.

We start with Yahweh in Exodus 3, where God introduces himself as “I AM” the eternally present, unique sustainer who is not one option among many. From there, we look for evidence of God’s goodness you can actually name on a Monday. We talk about beauty in creation, God’s patience with stubborn people like us, and the cross of Jesus as the clearest display of love and mercy. If God didn’t spare himself for our salvation, we can trust his character even when we don’t understand his choices.

Then we sit with Jeremiah in Lamentations 3, written from the ashes of devastation, and watch hope break through honest grief: “Yet I still dare to hope… his mercies never cease.” God’s goodness is strong enough to handle disappointment and sorrow, brave enough to dare us to dream again, and practical enough to give direction for our next steps: commit to God, search for him in the dark, and wait for his timing. We close by moving our hearts back to the cross through communion and extending a clear invitation to anyone ready to trust Jesus for the first time.
