このコンテンツについて
In this episode I’m speaking to writer, comedian and actor Jane Postlethwaite.
Jane’s work has been seen at Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe and the Women in Comedy Festival. Her comedy characters, who are often very quirky and dark, have been heard on BBC Radio 4. Alongside working on numerous projects like her new stand up show and writing scripts for TV and radio, she runs online comedy workshops for women.
I first met Jane when I signed up to one of her comedy courses, which I did as part of my research and writing practice for the novel I’m working on at the moment. It was great fun, and I loved Jane’s approach to coming up with ideas and material for sketches and shows.
In this episode, Jane talks about:
- How she found a love of comedy through an acting course
- Why she enjoys writing non-stereotypical northern and female characters
- How making the writing process fun helps her to get her ideas down on paper
- Why she thinks it’s important to keep a top drawer of ideas for your creative work
- And how she’s continually investing in her own writing and creativity skills and development
I hope you enjoy it.
