I recently had the opportunity to join Prof. Zae Holmes on the ITUTv Podcast with Brandon Pitts for a conversation about what it really takes to become consistently profitable in trading.

We talked about something that often gets overlooked.

Success in trading is not just about technical analysis. It's about discipline, emotional control, risk management, confidence earned through repetition, and understanding yourself before you ever put capital at risk.

One idea I kept coming back to is this:

Prevention is better than treatment.

The best traders don't rely on willpower in the middle of a trade. They build systems that help them make better decisions before emotions ever have the chance to take over.

We also discussed why patience is often the highest paying skill in the markets. Sometimes the best trade is the one you never take.
