I’ve been reflecting lately on how quietly many women learn to disconnect from themselves over time.
Not dramatically. Not intentionally. But slowly…
Through pressure... Expectations... Acceptance... And the desire to keep peace in relationships.
And often, it begins much earlier in life than we realize.
In this episode, I’m sharing a personal story from childhood that revealed how easily we can begin evaluating ourselves through the lens of external approval — silencing parts of ourselves simply because they create tension somewhere else.
The discussion explores: • how pressure teaches women to override internal awareness • the emotional cost of constantly self-monitoring • why external peace and internal peace are not always the same thing • what begins to change when we become safe enough with God to be honest about what we’re actually feeling • how healing sometimes begins by reconnecting with parts of ourselves we learned to silence over time
And maybe most importantly…
What becomes possible when we stop viewing ourselves only through the comfort, expectations, and opinions of others.
