In this episode of Where Memories Meet Hope, Tony and Kristen talk about one of the hardest parts of the mental health journey: the long, frustrating search for help. Tony shares the many barriers he faced over the years, including waitlists, insurance issues, and providers who weren’t a good fit, and how the ruminating thoughts made every setback feel heavier. Kristen offers her perspective as his partner, describing what it was like to watch him struggle to find support and the emotional toll of the constant dead ends. Together they discuss why finding help can feel so out of reach for so many people, the small steps that eventually helped them move forward, and what they would tell someone currently stuck in that search. This episode is for anyone who has ever felt discouraged while trying to get the support they need.
