    There comes a time in one’s life when we all realize the importance of “saving the bees”. We see the true importance of life and leave behind the unnecessary attachments and unrealistic milestones. Alimi Ballard once again joins America’s Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, to talk about how the world teaches us to feel that we are always missing out on something. FOMO(Fear of Missing Out). All artists struggle with self doubt, something that stays with them their entire career, but also reminds them they still care and have a passion for their craft. There is no right or wrong when it comes to creating art, so self doubt will always be a byproduct of its creation. Alimi says his way of calming his nerves is to always go hard, overworking and overproducing. Do your best, then go home. Have fun, that’s the key to art, you can’t force art. He says, “Get into the habit of giving more than you are paid for”. These are words of wisdom that can be applied to any career field, but in the arts, there is no excuse for laziness. They then get into the little known, but truthful discussion about the existence of “the list”. Not of public record, rarely discussed, all the big Hollywood studios have actors on a virtual list. If you are lucky enough to be on this list, the doors of opportunity are far and wide, you are most often the first choice when casting a role. If one is not on the list, they must fight, scratch and claw for any scraps that may fall from the main dinner table. And finally, Alimi breaks down the difference between a Guest Star role and Series Regular on our favorite television shows. What it feels like for actors to walk on a set as a Guest Star as opposed to a Regular. He says, “your job is to burn their house down, the show already has started the fire, the guest star needs to come in as gasolina”!! Imagine walking into a families house for Thanksgiving dinner and you don’t know anyone, but you are expected to know where everything is, how to do everything without error, but also ask permission to use the bathroom, utensils, sit at the dinner table. The series regulars are a tight knit family, and the guest star is the stranger expected to come in and shake things up, be the life of the party. There is no greater pressure in the job world, and you will hear first hand from those whom live it.

    Alimi Ballard is Marcel Dumas on the hit show, Queen of the South, and currently can be seen on the new Peacock series, One of Us is Lying. He sits with America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, to help us understand the importance of "listening". Often times you'll hear couples in arguments and one always complains that their partner "never listens". Well it applies to real life, but even more to the craft of acting. If an actor doesn't understand the importance, then they will never sound organic, real and authentic. Alimi said he used to study the best of them all, Robert DeNiro. He said DeNiro was the master at listening when other actors were talking, watching all the nuances, details and depth of story happening inside his mind and body as he took in every word the other actor was giving. It is the key to ultimate transcendence as an actor. He also shares his approach to every character, and helps us understand the difference between "method" and "imagination". And finally, he shares publicly for the very first time, his two absolutely unbreakable rules for the industry of Hollywood.

He was shot down all over town and told "no one will ever watch people play video games". Well a few years later, the biggest live streaming conglomerate on the planet, Twitch, was launched to change the world forever. Brett Claywell once again sits with America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, to discuss being way ahead of his time in a genre that only now is taking over the mainstream. He has proven that we can start second careers later in life. He has shown that you can be a celebrity and leave it all behind to follow a true passion. He produced live script readings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Goonies and Dazed and Confused. During the pandemic, he was able to assemble celebrities, from Sean Astin to Jason Alexander and even Rosario Dawson. Brett is an example that if you no longer wish to be someone's puppet, it's time to turn yourself into the puppet master. Take your career into your own hands and create what you want. He says, "believe in yourself or no one else ever will".
