  • Snore and Peace
    2024/11/15

In this episode, CJ and Scott delve into the eye-opening world of sleep apnea—a condition that transforms peaceful dreams into life-threatening nightmares of snores and gasps. Scott outs himself as a sleep apnea sufferer. Not to be outdone, CJ outs himself as someone with an irrational annoyance to snoring, who's probably one pillow away from needing a parole hearing. Along the way, the boys uncover the dangers of sleep apnea (including an ENT who wanted to irradiate Scott's tongue) and make the mistake of questioning Rule 34 of the Internet. If the hose fits...

Scott is drinking: Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout by Stoic Brewing

CJ is drinking: Surrender to the Void Peppermint Chocolate Imperial Stout by Garage Project

Surrender to the Void, an outrageously decadent pitch black stout brewed using an enormous, complex malt bill and mounds of debaucherous adjuncts. What’s the Void up to now? Goodness, what a lot of cacao nibs and vanilla pods!? Are you sure you need all that? And what’s that? Peppermint candy!? ALL the peppermint candy! Oh Void, have you no restraint!

  • The Age of Television
    2024/10/05

CJ and Scott stagger down Memory Lane as they blatantly view old TV shows and attempt to shoehorn them into the "What's My Age Again?" format. (Editor's note: There's a format?) Episodes of the Monkees and Star Trek are 'analysed' for their portrayals of aging. Do they stand up today? Can CJ and Scott? Stay tuned for our next exciting episode - same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!

CJ is drinking: Boatrocker Roger Ramjet Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout

Roger Ramjet, he’s our man, hero of our nation... Our ode to the wonderful bourbon barrel imperial stouts from the USA and the beers that inspired our Australian version, Ramjet. We sourced 1st use Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill barrels direct from America, and filled them with our wonderfully complex Ramjet base. More than 12 months later, we disgorged and canned.

Roger Ramjet, like previous vintages, has a luscious and rich malt base, with enough hop character to balance the palate out. A full mouthfeel that really shows its hand when consumed at 10˚C+. The vanillins and bourbon character are firm and help round everything out.

Scott is drinking: Corona... minimal taste and effort... nuff said.

  • Death... the Final Frontier (Part Two)
    2024/09/01

After months of procrastination, editing, re-recording, and more editing (punctuated by their triumphant European tour), CJ and Scott unveil the conclusion to their two-part series about death. CJ gives Scott carte blanche to use cartoon sound effects and Scott controls himself just to spite CJ. Among other things the boys discuss: the disposal of their mortal remains; the LA realtor who left his dying wife to follow his dream of being a twat; the best age to die; and the Titanic Exhibition. Scott takes a test to find out when he will die. Surprisingly deep and superficial all at the same time.CJ is drinking: SAILORS GRAVE Lemon Meringue Cream Sour

Kettle soured and brewed with local organic lemons, lactose and vanilla, then dry-hopped with lemon
drop, denali, amarillo & citra. a billowy body with lemon zing & tanginess with a bright hoppiness finishing creamy, tart and refreshingly sour. – Sailors Grave.

Scott is drinking: PHILTER Super Cool Lager.
This is our new, super clean, super crisp, super refreshing, Super Cool lager. We’ve brewed it to be extremely sessionable with a light malt body and a classic dry finish inspired by the great Japanese rice lagers. Taste the Coolness.

  • CJ and Scott's Excellent? Adventure
    2024/08/04

Rather than facing the ordeal of editing Part II of 'Death: The Final Frontier', CJ and Scott decide to talk about their recent European vacation. They discuss living examples of bucket lists, surviving a near-death experience, suffering memory lapses, and how to (and how NOT to) tour Europe as a 'mature' person. They also learn the disadvantages of going on a tour bus with people whose subjective age is greater than their chronological age.

CJ is drinking... Garage Project Cherry Bomb Imperial Porter Hello world, it's the...CH-CH-CH-CH-CH-CH... Cherry Bomb Imperial Porter, a complex, decadent dessert beer, spiked with sour cherries and cacao nibs. The finished beer has a rich ebony hue with a pronounced, bitter-sweet, dark chocolate and ripe tart cherry character. BREWED WITH: Admiral, Styrian Goldings hops, Ale malt, medium crystal, amber, chocolate wheat, carafa ii. malt.

Scott is drinking... Scenic Route Session Hazy by Mountain Culture Beer Co New World hops give this beer a juicy, citrusy kick with the haze we all love, while a smooth mouthfeel gives way to a clean, dry finish. Scenic Route’s low-key ABV is perfect for when you want to slow down and take in the view.

  • Death...the Final Frontier (Part One)
    2024/04/07

CJ and Scott are at odds about the name and topic of the podcast, but eventual sort out their shit. As promised months ago, the boys finally tackle the thorny topic of death with their regular panache, humor, and trademark ineptitude. What makes a good death? Do people actually fear public speaking more than death? Why do people fear death? Of course, CJ and Scott don't find the answer in part one of this two part deep dive into death.

    CJ is drinking:

Dances With Hops: Shambles Brewery, American IPA, ABV: 6.4%

A combination of five hops gives this beer an intense hop flavour and aroma, with citrus, fruit and pine characters. The hop assault is balanced by a higher alcohol level and a firm, lingering bitterness. A seriously tasty beer for those in search of a lupulin fix!

    Scott is drinking:

Making Excuses, Mountain Culture, Oat Cream IPA, ABV: 6.5%

We decided to make this beer's hop regime as extreme as our mountain bike riding and throw in everything we had on hand (Strata, Mosaic, Galaxy, Idaho 7 and Sabro) because it’s a well known fact that the Mountain Culture team are awesome mountain bike riders. They’re really good at doing massive jumps, tabletops and rollovers which really impress all of the other riders. It’s just that sometimes they don’t really feel like doing all those awesome tricks. For example, if the wind is too strong or there’s no wind at all, or if people are watching or the path is too rocky or smooth or has too much dirt. And if it’s too sunny or a bit overcast, they just wouldn’t want to risk it. That’s why they prefer gentle rides followed by thick, fruity Oat Cream IPAs (preferably with a tropical fruit salad punch like this one) that act as a salve for any injuries to their muscles or egos.
