Welcome to "What Went Wrong on the Farm Today?" the daily(ish) chaos report from a real working farm where everything is beautiful… and also somehow always on fire (sometimes metaphorically, sometimes almost literally). Each episode is a quick, honest, and occasionally ridiculous recap of the curveballs that come with raising animals, growing food, and keeping a farm (and your sanity) running. Expect farm mishaps, hard lessons, tiny wins, and a whole lot of “how is this real life?”

Episode 16 - When Farmers Get Sick...

Guess who got sick. That's right! Find out what we did despite Nick not feeling well. Also, we ask the question, "Do you like this daily format, or would you prefer a weekly/biweekly video that highlights what went wrong the last few days?"

Episode 13 - More Carnage from the Freeze!

Another expensive and time consuming repair is necessary to get our wash/pack building operational again. It's hard to wash produce and milking equipment without water. We also ask for a little feedback in this one, so please watch to the end and give us your thoughts.

Episode 12 - Virtual School = Farm Work Halts

The kids were at home doing school work, which pretty much halted our work on the farm. We did our federal income taxes & state sales taxes and go into the FUN details about that. We also had a visit from a livestock veterinarian, but not in the way you're probably thinking.

Episode 11 - Farmers Market Curveball & Government Obstacles

We talk about how the farmers market changed things in a way that throws a wrench into our plans and forces us to pivot (again). If you’ve ever built your week around a system… and then the system changed without warning, you’ll understand the frustration. We also unpack what it’s been like having slow traffic at the farm store lately: how hard it hits when you’ve stocked up, done the work, showed up… and the customers just don’t show. Then we get into a real, honest rant about how government rules and red tape can make it ridiculously challenging for small farms to survive, especially when you’re trying to do things the right way, stay compliant, and still make enough money to keep going. If you’ve ever felt squeezed between rising costs, changing rules, and an unpredictable customer base… this episode is for you. 👇 Drop a comment: What’s the biggest “curveball” you’ve had to deal with lately? 👍 If you enjoy the real behind-the-scenes side of farming, hit like, subscribe, and share this episode.

Today’s episode is brought to you by the thing every farm runs out of first… time. Between keeping the farm store open, answering messages, restocking freezers, and baking fresh sourdough, the “productive farm day” we planned turns into a chaotic game of whack-a-mole. We’re trying to do the chores, the maintenance, the animal care, the admin work, the marketing… and somehow still have enough energy left to be humans. Spoiler: we don’t. I’m running on fumes in this one, but we talk honestly about what it actually takes to keep the doors open, why the store is both a blessing and a bottleneck, and how sourdough (as much as we love it) has a way of hijacking the entire schedule. If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing a million things and still behind, this episode is for you.
