The last supper wasn't a spontaneous meal. It was a fixed, ancient ritual every person there had rehearsed since childhood, down to four specific cups of wine, each tied to a promise from the Exodus story.
In Luke 22:19-20, Jesus takes the cup linked to redemption and says something no one in that room had ever heard: "This is my blood."
