It has been said over and over again that health begins in the mouth.

I have learned that lesson in ways I never could have imagined over the last ten years.

Apparently, it was medicine my soul needed, because I have learned so much through some pretty hardcore suffering and some truly wild experiences.

Before mercury poisoning, I was basically a brick. Nothing affected me. I could tolerate almost anything.

Afterward, my body became profoundly sensitive. And although I have healed from so much of what came next, one area where my body still seems to pay very close attention is dental materials.

Maybe that makes sense. These are materials that can live in the mouth for years, sometimes decades.

And that has made me ask questions I never used to ask.

Do you know what is actually in your dental materials?

Do you know what is being placed in your mouth and how your individual body might respond to it?

Does your dentist think about the connection between your teeth, your nervous system, inflammation, materials, and the rest of your body?

And maybe just as importantly, do they listen when you tell them something does not feel right?

That last one has become huge for me.

I think one of the major problems in healthcare right now is how often patients are dismissed as overreacting, exaggerating, or being overly sensitive when they are simply trying to describe what they are experiencing in their own bodies.

My experiences taught me to value practitioners who stay curious.

Practitioners who listen.

Practitioners who care about the whole human being in front of them.

Which brings me to my dentist.

I cannot wait to introduce you to Dr. Spencer.

Finding a dentist who was heart-led, holistic, deeply thoughtful about materials, and also had exceptional clinical skills turned out to be far harder than I ever imagined.

And then I found him.

Dr. Spencer is incredibly special, both as a practitioner and as a human being.

So if you have ever wondered about the connection between your mouth and the rest of your body, questioned what is actually being used in your dental care, or simply wanted a dentist who sees more than a collection of teeth, I think you are going to love this conversation.

Meet my favorite dentist, Dr. Spencer.

Thank you for being here. 💛
