1)God will be with you in your fears— He sends His people and His promises.

2)God will be with you in your faithlessness— He sends His pledges.

3)God will be with you in your frailty— He sends His own Person.

BIG IDEA: Don’t be afraid— your God will come and save you.
*3 reasons God’s people don’t have to be afraid:

1) The promise of salvation. (v.1-4)

2) The power of salvation. (v.5-7)

3) The procession of salvation. (v.8-10)

BIG IDEA: The Christ is coming forth.
*The Christ who is coming forth…
1) …will be miraculous from the start. (v.1)
2) …will be moved by the Spirit of the LORD. (v.2)
3) …will be marked in His rule by:
a. Righteous judgment (v.3-5)
b. Peace and love through changed natures (v.6-9)

BIG IDEA: It makes no sense to trade the grace of Christ for a different gospel.

*Four reasons it doesn’t make sense:

1)It represents a desertion of the God who called them. (v.6)

2)It entertains a perversion of the good news sent to them. (v.7)

3)It results in the damnation of the ones who trouble them. (v.8-9)

4)It questions the motivation of why Paul came to them. (v.10)

BIG IDEA: The news we proclaim is the grace of God to you, that brings peace with God to you, through faith.

*Three reasons we have peace with God:

1) The gracious payment at the cross.
2) The gracious purpose of the cross.
3) The gracious plan for the cross.

*All of which deserves grateful praise for the cross.

BIG IDEA: Paul speaks for God to the churches.

*Five questions we’re going to answer about this letter:

1) Who is writing?
Paul, on behalf of the Christian community, but his words ultimately come from God.

2) To whom is he writing?
The churches in Galatia that he & Barnabas founded during the first missionary journey chronicled in Acts 13.

3) When is he writing?
A.D. 48-49

4) Why is he writing?
To counter the threat of false teachers.

5) What is he writing?
a. The news we proclaim is divine. (chap. 1 – 2:14)
b. The news we proclaim is justification through faith in Christ. (chap. 2:15 - 4)
c. The news we proclaim is going to change the way you live. (chap. 5,6)

BIG IDEA: To call lost people ‘Brothers’ requires conditions to be met.
*Six conditions that must be met:
1) To call them ‘brothers’ they must be chosen by God.
2) To call them ‘brothers’ they must be saved through sanctification by the
Spirit.
3) To call them ‘brothers’ they must be saved through belief in the truth.
4) To call them ‘brothers’ they must be called by God.
5) To call them ‘brothers’ they must be preached to.
6) To call them ‘brothers’ they must be firm/stand firm.

3) The witnesses & well-wishers became prophets. (v.14,15)

4) Naomi became a foster-mother. (v.15,16)

5) Obed became a servant. (v.17-22)
