  • Ep. 009 – From Burnout to Backup: Why You Need a Team
    2025/06/26

Sooo… do you actually need to build a team? And if so — how do you do it without turning into a bossy nightmare, micromanaging yourself into burnout, or hiring someone who gives off terrible vibes?

In this episode of We Will Manage, Alba and Saoirse dive into the messy middle of team building. We talk about when to delegate, how to work with freelancers or collaborators, and the difference between building support with the work or for the work.

    We cover:

    • How to know it’s time to stop doing everything yourself
    • Why hiring isn’t the only way to build a team
    • Real listener dilemmas (hello, friendship boundaries + boss guilt)
    • The disaster story that proves team building isn’t about “forced fun”

Plus: stats, voice notes, and a Would You Rather game that makes us question everything.

This is for anyone who’s somewhere between burnt out and bossed up — trying to build something real without losing themselves in the process.

🎧 Tune in, take notes, and maybe fire that sock puppet co-worker. We won’t judge.

  • We Will Manage: Pitching – How to Talk About What You Do
    2025/06/23

It’s our first mini bonus episode! We have decided to start a new series with different, more spontaneous topics, this is We Will Manage Mondays! Welcome to We Will Manage: Pitching, where Saoirse helps Alba (lovingly) through the best way to sell her project.

    We’re talking:

    – Why pitching yourself feels so cringey

    – The difference between what you do and how you talk about it

    – How to frame your experience without sounding fake

    – The chaos of finding your “headline” when your job doesn’t fit in a box

This one’s short, funny, and full of lightbulb moments — including Alba's real-time pitch makeover, complete with Saoirse's live edits and mini-mentoring.

Whether you’re prepping for a talk, updating your LinkedIn, or just tired of fumbling when someone asks “So what do you do?” — this one’s for you.

We will be uploading an episode from We Will Manage Mondays on the last Monday of every month to start testing the waters and see how people feel about these kinds of episodes! We would love to know what you think and what you'd like to hear more of, your feedback means the world to us.

  • Ep 008 – Communication Chaos: From Voice Notes to Contracts
    2025/06/19
Today’s a special one: our first recorded chat since launching We Will Manage into the wild! We’re celebrating with Baileys, behind-the-scenes updates, and a full deep dive into something that causes way more chaos at work than it should — communication.

From voice notes and vague emails to last-minute client chaos, we unpack:– The T.I.P. method for clear communication– Real miscommunication stories from our work lives– Why good emails = happy teammates– What to do when a client edits a story 7 times… then wants the original

Plus, we debut a new game: Inbox Roulette — where we blindly scroll our sent folders and guess the tone, clarity, and intention behind old messages (some great, some deeply confusing).

We also touch on:– The weird line between WhatsApp and email– What makes a portfolio actually useful at an event– How communication affects leadership, contracts, and creativity

It’s a chill, funny, slightly chaotic chat — and a reminder that learning to say what you mean can honestly change everything.

  • Ep 006 – More Than Just Representation: Women, Work, and Worth
    2025/06/05

This week we invited Marina onto the podcast — our very first guest (!!) — to talk about her experience as a woman working in engineering and research. She’s a biomedical engineer and PhD student diving deep into Parkinson’s research and somehow also managing to do outreach videos for kindergarteners and pitch competitions. Honestly, goals.

We talked about representation in technical fields, why certain leadership styles get taken more seriously, and how we’ve each felt about being women in our own industries. From creepy photographers to kind PhD supervisors, it’s a messy mix. Plus, some spicy stats (hello, more men named James on boards than total women?!), our own reflections on adapting to masculine environments, and why emotional intelligence is an underrated management skill.

We left this chat feeling more thoughtful, more hopeful, and a little bit more ready to lead the way — with empathy, confidence, and a dash of Ratatouille references.

Whether you’re figuring it out or just need company while you do, you’re in good hands.

  • Ep 005 – Flexibility vs Structure: The Workplace Debate
    2025/05/29
We’re back with a re-record of an episode that got us thinking hard about how we work — and why.
This week, we’re diving into workplace dynamics, from timetables to trust, and debating the structure (or lack of it) that shapes our daily grind.Alba brings her experience as a founder running a flexible, remote-first team, while Saoirse defends the rhythm and reliability of her structured 8-to-5 setup. We roleplay what it would be like to co-found a company and negotiate our dream work culture — from fully remote life to office meetups, and whether we’d track hours or trust results.

    We also chat about:

    – What proximity bias actually means– Why some of us love to-do lists (and some don’t)– Horse riding, kombucha, and the occasional burnout– How to balance flexibility with fairnessThis one’s packed with real talk, a bit of laughter, and the ongoing chaos of figuring it all out.

  • Ep 004 – Interviews: awkward, empowering & everything in between
    2025/05/22

Let’s talk interviews—whether you're the one being grilled, doing the grilling, or interviewing yourself before taking on a new client.

In Episode 4 of We Will Manage, we’re diving into the weird, wonderful, and downright awkward world of interviews. We play interview ping-pong (as our 16-year-old selves vs. now), unpack red flag vs. green flag moments, and share wild listener stories (including one involving an open shirt and a hospital job 👀).

    We also explore:

    – How imposter syndrome sneaks into interviews

    – What makes a great candidate beyond the CV

    – Red flags we watch for as self-employed people

    – Why interviews are really about connection, not performance

Whether you’re job hunting, hiring, or just navigating the chaos of client discovery calls, this one’s full of honest takes and helpful advice (plus a few laughs at our past selves).

  • Ep 003 – Would You Follow You? Rethinking What It Means to Lead
    2025/05/15

This one's personal — we're unpacking what it really means to lead, manage, and do both at the same time. Saoirse opens up about what it’s like to step into leadership while founding a company, and Alba reflects on managing her first-ever employee (spoiler: she’s amazing, but it’s still a lot).

We dive into the difference between leading people and managing projects, why micromanaging often comes from fear, and how emotional intelligence (and wine glasses full of OJ) shape our management style.

Plus: the Icelandic workweek study, Simon Sinek wisdom, Alba’s van life hiring strategy, and whether success has to mean sacrifice. Oh, and a game about famous leadership quotes — guess who said them?

Come for the insights, stay for the fly that crashes the recording. Let us know your biggest leadership lessons — we’re all figuring it out together.
