  • S2 E9 BONUS EPISODE: The One With All The Teachers - Hampshire SEND Conference February '26
    2026/02/10

A special edition of the show where for the first time we do an outside broadcast from the Hampshire SEND Conference held at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton on February 6th 2026.

We were there at the invitation of friend of the show Laura Hamson to see how the special educational needs of children, such as those with autism and ADHD, are being met and engaged with by teaching staff across the county.

It was an inspiring and insightful visit which both illuminated the challenges and the rewards of the work that the staff do, plus many interesting parallels and food for thought for those of us in the professional world.

Special thanks to Laura and all the Hampshire SENCOs who made me feel so welcome on the day, and took the time to chat 🙏🏻

In this episode, we cover topics including:
    • The need for teaching staff and children to co-regulate for best results.
    • How AI used creatively and responsibly can benefit children, parents and staff.
    • The preparation required for young people passing from the teaching environment into working life.
    • The parallels between the learning environment and the workplace.
    • Examples of positive leadership styles when implementing inclusivity at scale with limited resources.

  • S2 E8 - The One with the AI Interviewer - Martin Gale, usually the host
    2026/01/12

In this final episode of the series, the tables are turned.

For the first time on We Too Are One, host Martin Gale steps into the guest seat — interviewed entirely by AI. It’s something listeners have been asking for for a while, and it felt right to do it here, at the close of a series that’s explored neurodivergence from so many different perspectives.

Rather than interviewing himself, Martin chose to entrust the conversation to AI — something he works with every day, and something that has also become an unexpected support alongside his ADHD. With no scripted questions and no agenda beyond context, the interview unfolds as a reflective, open conversation shaped entirely by what the system already knew about him.

Martin talks candidly about his late ADHD diagnosis, the years of anxiety that preceded it, and the sense of relief that came with finally having a language to understand himself. He reflects on creativity, identity, leadership, work, and what it means to navigate a world that still struggles to make space for difference.

As a series closer, this episode brings together many of the threads explored throughout the season — belonging, environment, self-trust, and the importance of leaving things better than we found them.

In this episode, we cover topics including:

    • Late ADHD diagnosis and the emotional impact of reframing a lifetime of experience.

    • Creativity, identity, and the feeling of being a “side quest” in your own life.

    • Neurodivergence and work — and why traditional corporate models often fall short.

    • Microaggressions, trust, and the reality of invisible difference.

    • Using AI as both a professional tool and a cognitive support.

    • Why nuance, humanity, and environment matter more than ever.

  • S2 E7 - The One With The Church of England - Reverend Dr Allison Fenton, Anglican priest, theologian, and educator
    2025/12/24

In this episode, we explore the relationship between neurodivergence and faith — and what religion can teach us about identity, belonging, and inclusion.

My guest is Reverend Dr Allison Fenton, an Anglican priest, theologian, and educator. Allison lives with dyslexia and ADHD, and speaks openly about how her neurodivergence has shaped her faith, her ministry, and her understanding of herself. This is one of the first times she has spoken publicly about her ADHD.

While the conversation is rooted in the Church of England, the themes we explore extend far beyond any single faith tradition. We talk about belonging, difference, community, and how institutions — religious or otherwise — can better embrace neurodivergent ways of being.

In this episode, we cover topics including:

    • How neurodivergence intersects with faith, identity, and spirituality.

    • Why traditional ideas of silence, stillness, and worship don’t work for everyone.

    • The role of shame — and how diagnosis can bring kindness and self-understanding.

    • What churches and faith communities can learn from neurodivergent people.

    • Why difference isn’t a problem to solve, but something communities need in order to flourish.

    • The powerful idea of belonging without masking.
