Joining the podcast this week is U.S Marine Corps veteran, author and Leadership Instructor Rob Jones.

No three words better define Rob Jones’ journey. When an IED blast in Afghanistan took both his legs it could have taken everything else—his purpose, his identity, his will to go on. It didn’t. Instead, those three words became a battle cry to rebuild a life that the enemy had tried to destroy.

Put Your Legs On, is the unflinching story of what happened after that explosion—the surgeries, the hallucinations, the brutal recovery, and the slow, determined steps to become whole again. With the help of his family, Marines, and those who survived before him, Rob discovers that hope doesn’t end with loss. It starts there.

What follows is an extraordinary ascent: relearning how to walk, competing as a Paralympic rower for Team USA, cycling across America, and running 31 marathons in 31 days. Told with honesty, grit, and engaging humor, this is a memoir about resilience, purpose, and a warrior spirit that refuses to quit.

Robs book is available from amazon and you can follow him on Instagram by searching for @robnjonesjourney

A new Podcast for We Happy Few 506 co-founder Leighton (Me), who is keen to explore the history that exists on our doorstep, whether its World War 2, Medieval era, literature (I'm looking into some incredible local history related to Lord of the Rings) and more and what else is on our doorstep that connects us to the past and in some cases, significant events that occurred in history, I bring you the WHF506 - History On Your Doorstep Podcast.

Joining me for this first episode, I had with me special guest co-host, Joe Muccia join me as we spoke with one of my favourite historians, an author of several World War 2 books, co-host of the We Have Ways and World War 2 Live podcat and just an incredibly nice guy, John McManus. I brought John on to talk about his book 'The Dead and Those About To Die', that focuses on the 1st Infantry Division and the invasion of Normandy, in particular their action on Omaha Beach. I might add, the conversation was fluid and several areas covered that we barely cover what happened on the beach.

If you are interested in coming on the Podcast to talk about your own career as a historian, an up coming book or even a piece of history that happened on your doorstep then send me an email to info@wehappyfew506.com
