  • Small Craft Advisory: Destihl Brewery Oktoberfest Märzen
    2026/05/23

Destihl Brewery steps into the spotlight on this episode of Small Craft Advisory as the crew cracks open their Oktoberfest Märzen for review. While there was nothing particularly wrong with this beer, it ultimately left the guys wanting a little more from the experience. The caramel and malt notes were definitely present, but beyond that, the flavor profile felt pretty limited. Words like “average” and “it’s fine” became common throughout the review, and the final scores reflected that overall feeling.

This isn’t a bad beer by any means — it’s drinkable, smooth, and true to style — but most of the crew agreed it’s probably not one they’d actively seek out again. That said, Destihl Brewery still has everyone interested in trying more from their lineup in the future because there’s clearly potential there.

  • Small Craft Advisory: German Coast First Frost
    2026/03/10

In this latest Small Craft Advisory Beer Review, the crew heads down to Luling to check out German Coast Beer Company and their First Frost Citrus Wheat Ale. Brewed with Louisiana orange peel, this citrus wheat promises bright, refreshing flavor—and while the guys agree it’s a solid, well-made beer, the discussion quickly turns to whether it quite delivers the punch you’d expect from the style. The beer is easy-drinking, light, and refreshing, but the citrus notes feel a little muted, and the finish could use just a bit more crispness to really make it pop. Still, it’s an enjoyable brew and sparks a good conversation about balance, drinkability, and what makes a wheat ale stand out.
