We should want to be perfect but we know that the harder we try, the more we fail. We just cannot attain perfection, especially as we try to on our own.

In this episode I look at focusing on progress rather than perfection and bring some encouraging words from scripture of how we can do this and why this is acceptable to God.

Many of us are familiar with the parable of the wise and foolish builders. It is a favorite parable of many. So too is the song written by Edward Mote by the same title in which he declares, and so do we declare that we build on the foundation of Jesus Christ so that when the storms of life come upon us, we stand firm.

There are a lot of big words in scripture, especially the Old Testament. And these words are hard to pronounce and understand. There are also many words that are as clear as can be and very powerful.

In this episode I look at one of the biggest little words in scripture. It only has two letters; "if". This word is used a lot and always carries tremendous meaning.

I'm going to focus on the wonderful and hope filled words from 1 John 1:5-10. John uses the word, "if" 5 times as he provides us with how we can have confidence in the faithfulness of God, even when we are weak.

If there is anything we share it is that all of us have experienced suffering at some level. I often marvel at the resiliance and grace others express as I know the suffering they are enduring.

A question that is often asked is why God allow suffering. Isn't He all powerful and all loving? How then can He allow suffering to happen to His greatest creation.

In this episode I try to present some thoughts about this question. I don't have all the answers. In fact, I continue also to have questions. But this I know. I serve a loving God who gave His Son Jesus to suffer so that one day I and others can see an end to all suffering as we stand in His presence.

As we continue in the series of episodes featuring the original 12 apostles we now come to the final one, Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed Christ. He was chosen by Jesus and given every opportunity and lesson just as the other 11. Yet he chose to put his own selfishness ahead of Jesus. As a result he lost all for eternity.

In this episode we will look at this tragic life so we can see that it is insanity to not follow Jesus. Judas was a man who had given his life to Christ but not his heart.

We get asked a lot of questions as Christians. Sometimes a challenge is asked in the form of a question. One such common question we might ask or be asked of us is, "Is it wrong?" Quite often this question is asked as a way to justify behavior.

In this episode I look at this question from the perspective that there might be a better question to ask. I'll also give some ideas of how to answer the question.
