概要

Mahabharat and Valmiki Ramayan are the two fundamental foundation epics of Hinduism. Ramayan describes the life of Ram, while Mahabharat is not focused on the life of any one person. Dwaipaayan Krishn, who is also called Maharshi Ved Vyas, and Vaasudev Krishn (also called Muralidhar, Giridhar, Gopal, Govind, Madhav etc.) are the soul of Mahabharat and hold all the strings of the story. On surface, it appears that Mahabharat is the story of the family feud within Kuru royal family between sons of Pandu (Pandav) and sons of Dhrutraashtr (Kaurav). But Mahabharat is certainly much bigger than a family feud. This epic is a vast storehouse of knowledge that teaches one about every aspect of life. The struggle in the epic is the clash between two different life-values. Dwaipaayan Krishn and Vaasudev Krishn put in relentless and continuous efforts to establish and strengthen the same fundamental values and ideals for which Ram fought the war against Raavan. Mahabharat is the story of their efforts. By learning and understanding this story and by adopting the learnings into our behaviour we can make our life happy and rich. This series “Mahabharat Ka Mahaparv” is most humbly submitted with the best of regards and wishes to those who value knowledge.


Valmikiy Ramayan is the original epic which narrates the story of Ram. It is a detailed work which describes Ram as a human being who faced all the difficulties of life. Ram of Valmikiy Ramayan faces dilemmas, discusses with his family and friends, accepts guidance from learned men and suffers hardships. He always takes the right decisions and follows the path of dharm. The series Valmiki Ramayan Ke Ram of conversations between Yogita Pant (Questioner) and Anil Chawla is intended to help the viewers understand the personality of Ram. After understanding one can adopt Ram's ideals in one's own life and enrich one's life.

As Yuddhishthir was thinking about preparing for Raajsooy yagy, Vaasudev Krishn came to Indraprasth. Yuddhishthir welcomed Krishn and requested Krishn to be the key person for the Raajsooy yagy. Krishn asked Yuddhishthir to play the key role. After receiving instructions from Krishn, Yuddhishthir started planning and preparations for the grand yagy. Arrangements were made for housing and food for the large number of guests that were expected. Special ambassadors were sent to invite kings, brahmins, businessmen and also prominent shoodrs. Yuddhishthir sent his brother Nakul as a special emissary to Hastinapur to invite family and relatives. Soon, kings and others started arriving. Yudhishthir welcomed them all. However, a special welcome was accorded to the delegation from Hastinapur. All of them were given key responsibilities and authorities. (Mahabharat/Sabhaaparv/ Digvijay Parv/Chapters 32-35). On his journey towards the south, Sahdev encountered many kingdoms. He could win many by diplomacy, but was required to use force in some cases. Sahdev was fighting against King Neel’s army when he found that Neel was supported by Agnidev. Neel prayed to Agnidev and said that all offerings in Raajsooy yagy would be to Agnidev and hence, Agnidev should not act as a hindrance. Agnidev blessed Sahdev and agreed to help. On Agnidev’s instructions, Neel agreed to pay taxes to Sahdev. When Sahdev reached the bridge which was constructed by Ram and which led to Lanka, Sahdev decided to call his nephew Ghatotkatch, son of Bheem and Hidimbaa, to act as an ambassador to Vibheeshan, the King of Lanka. Ghatotkatch visited Lanka and Vibheeshan agreed to cooperate by paying taxes. (Mahabharat/Sabhaaparv/ Digvijay Parv/Chapter 31). The episode begins with a discussion on the concept of Raajssoy yagy and of Bharatvarsh. Arjun offered to go to north direction for winning over the kingdoms and kings located there. Maharshi Dwaipaayan Krishn and other rishis present were very pleased with the proposal. Maharshi directed that Arjun should go towards north, Bheem should go towards east while Sahdev should go towards the south and Nakul should go in the western direction. As per the directions of Maharshi, four brothers proceeded in the four directions. Arjun conquered the kingdoms of north, while Bheem was victorious in the east.
