Wake Up Dead Man is the latest Benoit Blanc mystery film from Rian Johnson, of Knives Out fame. This time going for a dark, gothic mystery bathed in religion, Blanc assists Father Jud who's (of course) been accused of murder. A big, stellar cast, excellent cinematography, and plenty of humor keep us entertained this time around, although we do have a few critiques as well! We dive into just how Catholic this movie is, the excellent performances from Josh O'Connor and Daniel Craig, and we even have our usual diversions to talk about another movie or two. This time we're inverting things and talking to someone inspired by Ace Attorney, Famicom Detective Club, and Hotel Dusk! Joey from Armonica is the lead developer on Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved, which is a soon-to-be-released adventure game with a command select interface and a groovy soundtrack! We discuss his inspirations, work on the game, and the game design ethos behind it. We also evangelize the command select menus, adventure games as a whole, and get a few tangents in there, too! (Let us know if you like the idea of interviewing game devs about their work in the adventure game and visual novel genres more in the future!)
