___________

Hello my friends, I’m Jared Halverson and this is Unshaken. I’ve spent my life studying the scriptures, my professional career teaching them, and my education at a Bible-belt divinity school exploring ways they have been used and abused, attacked and defended. And I’d like to share with you some of the things I’ve learned. In March of 2020 I created a YouTube channel called Unshaken, and six months later we hit our one millionth view, as people around the world are eagerly pursuing an unshaken faith in God by immersing themselves in His word. More and more viewers have been asking for an audio-only version of the lessons on Unshaken, and this podcast is my attempt to meet those needs. What it lacks in the visuals shown on YouTube, or the polished sound of a podcast-only production, it hopefully makes up for in its accessibility to the drivers, joggers, and multi-taskers out there who want to study their scriptures “on the go.” To you, welcome to our verse-by-verse, Come Follow Me study of the scriptures. I pray that it helps your faith in Christ become unshaken.

  • The Book of Numbers: Look and Live
    2026/05/05

The Lord was ready to bring Israel into the Promised Land in just eighteen months. Instead, it took forty years. Is your own "wilderness wandering" a result of geography, or is it a matter of the heart?

Summary: In this episode, we dive into the Book of Numbers. We move past the genealogies to uncover the spiritual friction that keeps us from moving forward. We analyze the pivotal moments where faith collided with fear and learn how to speed up the clock on our own spiritual progress.

The Timetable of Faith: We discuss how our activities or procrastinations can "slow the hands of the clock" on God’s promises.

The Report of the Spies: We contrast the "grasshopper complex" of the ten spies with the "mountain-moving faith" of Joshua and Caleb.

The Brazen Serpent: We explore the profound simplicity of "looking to live" and why we sometimes refuse the easiest cures offered by the Savior.

Miriam and Aaron’s Murmuring: We look at the dangers of "steadying the ark" and questioning local and prophetic leadership.

The Daughters of Zelophehad: We conclude with the beautiful balance of agency and order found at the end of the book, proving that the "Number" God cares most about is the individual soul.

Call-to-Action: Are you currently in a "Caleb" season of faith or a "Grasshopper" season of fear? What is one "giant" in your way that you are ready to overcome with the Lord’s help? • The Book of Leviticus: Holiness to the Lord
    2026/04/28

Leviticus is often where good Bible reading intentions go to die. But what if this isn't just a book of ancient "don'ts," but a beautiful, symbolic map showing us exactly how to return to the presence of God?

Summary: In this episode, we wrap up the book of Exodus (35–40) and dive into the heart of Leviticus. We move past the complex lists of offerings and clean vs. unclean foods to find the "weightier matters" of the law: holiness, sacrifice, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

The Willing Heart: We analyze the construction of the Tabernacle and why God emphasizes that every offering must come from a "willing heart." It’s not just about what we give, but who we become in the giving.

The Language of Symbolism: We explore why God uses symbols—like the sacrificial lamb or the high priest’s clothing—to teach us "eye to eye" and "mouth to mouth" about the Savior.

The Five Sacrifices: We break down the different types of offerings in Leviticus (Burnt, Meat, Peace, Sin, and Trespass) and how each one represents a different facet of our relationship with Christ.

Holiness is the Goal: We discuss the recurring theme of "Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy." We learn that holiness isn't just about being "good"; it's about being "set apart" for God's purposes.

"I Am the Lord": We examine why this phrase appears 45 times in Leviticus, serving as the ultimate "signature" and justification for every commandment given to Israel.

Call-to-Action: Which "ancient" law in these chapters surprised you with its modern relevance? How are you striving to offer a "willing heart" to the Lord this week? • Exodus 19-34 - Moses at Mount Sinai
    2026/04/20

God invited an entire nation to become a "kingdom of priests" and a "holy nation." But while Moses was on the mountaintop receiving the blueprints for heaven, Israel was in the valley building an idol out of the very gold God gave them for the Tabernacle. Are we doing the same thing today?

Summary: In this massive study of Exodus 19–34, we witness the highs and lows of the Covenant. We explore the sacred invitation of Sinai, the specific boundaries of the Ten Commandments, and the tragic irony of the Golden Calf.

The Invitation to Sinai: We analyze the "Degrees of Glory" on Mount Sinai and how the Tabernacle was designed to bring the mountain to the people.

The Ten Commandments: We reframe the Decalogue not as a list of "thou shalt nots" that restrict us, but as "protective bars" that keep us out of life’s snares.

The Tabernacle Pattern: We dive into the symbolism of the ark, the veil, and the altars, seeing how every piece of furniture is designed to point us back to the presence of God.

The Golden Calf Tragedy: We discuss the "Prophetic Absence" and why Israel fell so quickly. We learn the danger of "plundering the riches of Egypt" only to use our blessings to build our own idols.

A God of Second Chances: We conclude with the "second set" of tablets. Though the first set was broken, God provided a way for Israel to try again, proving that His mercy is more enduring than our mistakes.

Call-to-Action: Are you using the "gold" God has given you (your talents, time, and resources) to build a Tabernacle for Him, or a Golden Calf for yourself? Let’s talk about the difference in the comments. To stay "Unshaken" as we build our own sanctuaries today, please like, subscribe, and share this video!
