On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's RJ Abeytia, Shotgun Spratling and intern India Otto are back in studio talking about the long awaited kickoff to the 2026 college football season, a week zero matchup against San Jose State. The Trojans, coming off a 9-4 season in 2025, face a Spartans squad that struggled to a 3-9 finish for head coach Ken Niumatalolo. Quarterback Jayden Maiava should shine against SJSU's defense, with few returning starters off a squad that struggled to get stops last year. New defensive coordinator Gary Patterson will get his squad tested out of the gate, facing Hawaii transfer quarterback Luke Weaver and the Spartans "Spread and shred" offense.
The crew takes a look at what they are expecting out of this Trojan squad that will finally have the opportunity to put that No. 1 ranked recruiting class on display. They also give their thoughts on the newly released depth chart that featured five incoming freshmen as starters or co-starters and several more that landed on the two-deep.
