USC got off to a fast start, taking a 28-0 lead into halftime and extending that to 35-3 after three quarters. But when Lincoln Riley gave the starters a rest, the reserves weren't able to finish strong, allowing the Spartans to outscore the Trojans 23-7 in the final frame.
