From the outside, the perfect affluent family: vacation homes on the coast, gifts galore at Christmas, a privileged life. But on the inside, four generations of alcoholism, a grandfather who was a prominent community figure—and a predator—and a little girl who screamed but no one heard.

Jennifer Chase survived what many couldn't imagine: childhood sexual abuse normalized through grooming, a family system built on protecting reputation over protecting children, and a mother who dismissed her trauma with "Everyone feels that way. You're fine."

We explore the devastating reality of why everyone knew but no one spoke. Her grandmother knew. Her mother, likely abused by the same man, knew. The community elevated him. But speaking up would mean challenging a well-known, respected figure—so a child's safety became the sacrifice.

Too often, people know abuse is happening and do nothing. This happened to me, to the people I grew up with, to Morgan, and to millions of others. The signs are everywhere—but people look the other way.

In this raw and unflinching conversation, Morgan shares her harrowing story of eight years of systematic abuse by her best friend's father, starting when she was just eight years old. This doesn't happen in healthy homes. There were dire things happening in Morgan's home that led to this.

Both raised in Michigan, Morgan and I discuss the devastating reality of how victims are groomed, silenced through threats of death, and failed by the very people who should protect them. Despite visible bruises and behavioral changes, the adults around Morgan accepted excuses and ignored the truth.

At sixteen, Morgan reached a breaking point: she would rather die than endure another day. That's when she made the courageous decision to turn her abuser in to the police. What followed was a grueling journey through the justice system—testifying against him, being turned on by his family (who were also his victims), and ultimately watching him go to prison. Years later, Morgan moved back to the very street where her nightmare began, only to learn her abuser had been paroled.

This is an intense, necessary conversation about the systemic failures that allow abuse to continue and what finally happened when Morgan's parents—her father enraged, her mother repentant—finally stood by their daughter.

Some days test you in ways you never expect. This was one of those days.

I woke up in Italy to a "Cease and Desist" letter in my inbox. Apparently, "Transcending Trauma" is a trademarked name in the US and Australia, and I had ten days to stop using it or face legal action. In the past, this would have sent me into a complete spiral—playing the victim, asking "why does this shit always happen to me?", directing anger at the trademark holder, melting down completely before eventually snapping out of it and doing what was right.

But that's not what happened this time.

Later that same day, at 61 years old, I did something many would say I shouldn't have even considered—I hopped on an electric bike for the first time. And honestly? The fact that people might think I shouldn't, is exactly why I did it.

In this episode, I share both experiences and what they reveal about growth, resilience, and stepping outside our comfort zones. I take you back to the beginning of this year when I became a nomad—a lifestyle Spirit guided me toward so I could try new things, live large, become comfortable with the unknown, and step fully into my voice with confidence.

Did the bike ride go perfectly? Not even close. The proof is literally on my face. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. Will I do it again? Probably not. But here's the thing—that's not the point.
