    2025/04/25

    🔥 KETO & FASTED RIDING = PERFORMANCE CLARITY? 🧠💪

Sean Sekonofsky @sean_sako didn’t just change his fuel—he changed his life. From fatigue and fibromyalgia to nearly 100,000 km in the saddle 🚴‍♂️, his journey into a ketogenic, fasted lifestyle is as bold as it is controversial.

In this week’s Training Science Podcast, Paul and Sean go deep on:

🚫 "Super fuel" myths — carbs might not be the magic we think they are
🧂 The vital role of SALT in a low-carb diet
⚡️ How fasted training boosts clarity and performance

  • Top Episode Replay: Alistair Brownlee - His Training and Science Application Philosophy
    2025/04/18

    Top Episode Replay

2x Olympic Gold Medalist, Triathlete extraordinair Alistair Brownlee 🏆.

As a 15-year old, Alistair Brownlee got a physiology book from his father 📖. Influence from that book and his coaches helped Alistair go on to become one of the greatest triathletes in recent years.

Yet he is modest as they come and attests much of his success to the “boring”💤 parts of training - training lots and recovering well.

Things like getting LOTS OF SLEEP 🛌🏾, doing lots of rather repetitive EASY and long training sessions, casually figuring out POLARISED TRAINING (almost) by himself, as well as looking after yourself in terms of nutrition and other aspects of life.

In fact, what some might call “wellbeing” or “wellness” nowadays 😃.

In our 4th Episode on the Training Science Podcast, we discuss how and when Alistair got into ENDURANCE TRAINING, triathlon, and how he managed to keep the fire 🔥 going for this long despite his rather young age (yet long training age!).

Plus, a hot announcement 💣 of how Alistair will work more closely with us in the future!

  • PART 2: Workout Reserve and the Future of AI Coaching - with Dr Andrea Zignoli & Prof. Paul Laursen
    2025/04/04

💥 Dr. Andrea Zignoli wants you to understand that Workout Reserve is not just another performance metric—it’s a breakthrough in how we track and interpret what athletes can actually do in real time.

In Part 2 of this deep-dive on the Training Science Podcast, Andrea and Paul explore why traditional models like W′ fall short, and how Workout Reserve offers a more flexible, mechanical (not physiological) way to understand athlete capability. Plus, they tackle the future of AI coaching—how RAG-AI and Large Language Models are reshaping how athletes and coaches engage with data.

📊 Why Workout Reserve works when W′ doesn’t
⚙️ How mechanical models sidestep physiological guesswork
⏱️ Real-time fatigue, durability, and “limiting tau” explained
🧠 The future of AI coaching: RAG-AI, LLMs, and agents in training platforms
