  • #13: do you believe in magic?

In this episode, I’m calling myself and every other dreamer out. For years, I carried the same vision in my head, replayed the same fantasy, and convinced myself that “dreamer magic” would somehow bring it to life. I could imagine every detail with perfect clarity, but I wasn’t taking the consistent action necessary to turn that vision into reality. I talk openly about how dreamers get stuck in the cycle of dreaming without doing—circling the same Pinterest boards, waiting for signs, relying on manifestation, or hoping something external will shift on our behalf. This episode breaks down the difference between imagination and discipline, and why potential feels so intoxicating while execution feels uncomfortable.

I also explore the emotional addiction behind dreaming: the dopamine hit, the sense of possibility, and the escapism that makes fantasy feel safer than action. To make this relatable, I draw parallels to how we romanticize people and relationships based on potential while ignoring reality, and how that same behavior shows up in our creative and professional lives. Through my own birthday reflection, I share how leaning too heavily on dreamer magic delayed my growth and kept me detached from the work required to build what I envision.

If you’ve ever felt like your dreams never seem to materialize, or if you catch yourself waiting for the “perfect moment,” the “right sign,” or the “right energy” to start, this episode will challenge that mindset. I emphasize that dreams are previews, not finished films, and they do not transform into reality without intentional, uncomfortable steps. This episode is a direct activation: stop circling the airport and start taking the small, grounded actions that bring your dream out of your head and into your life. If you’re ready to trade fantasy for forward motion, this is your starting point.

In this episode of Thoughts of a Dreamer, I explore one of the biggest challenges I face as a creative and a visionary: the tension between the excitement of a big idea and the discomfort of the small steps required to bring it to life. I talk openly about how easily I can expand a single thought into a fully imagined future within hours, while the reality of actually starting still feels intimidating and slow. I share how that leap from imagination to action exposes a deeper emotional truth—small steps often feel vulnerable, tedious, or even beneath me, especially when the fantasy in my mind feels so complete and effortless.

Throughout the episode, I break down why dreamers like me get attached to the final vision and avoid the early stages of execution. I explore the discomfort of beginner energy, the fear of judgment, the impatience with slow progress, and the safety of staying in my imagination where nothing can go wrong. I ask the questions I’ve had to ask myself: Why do the small steps feel threatening? What am I protecting by staying in the fantasy? What internal beliefs make the process feel overwhelming or discouraging?

By reframing small steps as essential parts of the creative journey rather than obstacles, I remind myself—and anyone listening—that big dreams are built on consistent, incremental growth. I also guide listeners toward a practical next step: returning to the seed of their vision, choosing one small action to take, and noticing the feelings that arise when it’s time to move from dreaming to doing.

This episode is for anyone who has ever been stuck between inspiration and execution, who has ever felt paralyzed by the gap between the idea in their head and the work required to bring it into reality. My goal is to help you understand your own creative patterns, confront the limiting beliefs that hold you back, and begin building momentum toward the dream you keep imagining.

  • #11 - Limiting Belief Series | Pt. 4: how to stop the dreamer's loop
    2025/11/11

In this final part of my Limiting Belief series, I’m getting real about something so many dreamers deal with—but don’t always name: that moment when you get excited about a big idea, then suddenly freeze, pause, or disappear from it completely.

I’m sharing the exact loop I’ve caught myself in—the one that convinces us to stop right before momentum hits. I’ll walk you through how limiting beliefs sneak in dressed as logic, how my nervous system still reacts to old scripts (even when I know better), and what it really takes to move forward when fear won’t leave the room.

This isn’t just about mindset—it’s about movement. And this time? I’m flipping the script. Let’s go.

Have you ever felt like something inside you was holding you back, but you couldn’t quite name it? Like every time you get close to the dream, something quietly convinces you to stop?

In this episode—the third installment of the Limiting Beliefs series—we explore one of the most dangerous lies: the kind that sounds like your own voice. The kind that doesn’t shout “You can’t,” but gently whispers, “This is just who you are.”

Terri breaks down how fear disguises itself as identity, weaving itself into your inner monologue until you're no longer sure what's you and what's survival. Using the powerful metaphor of painted stripes on a zebra, she illustrates how false narratives form over time, often beginning with childhood conditioning, rejection, failure, or shame. These “painted-on” beliefs start to feel real because they’ve been repeated—by others, by your inner critic, and eventually, by your own actions.

Through personal storytelling and real-time reflection, Terri explores her own fear of visibility and how it shaped her approach to success. She unpacks the ways in which staying behind the scenes became a defense mechanism—one she misidentified as a personality trait. This episode invites you to ask bold questions, challenge inherited scripts, and reclaim the parts of you that got buried under repetition and fear.

Whether you’re building a dream, breaking old patterns, or simply trying to understand your resistance to growth, this conversation will help you spot the fraud you’ve been living with—and remind you of the truth underneath.

In this episode of Thoughts of a Dreamer, I break down how limiting beliefs are born inside the brain — and why fear can sound so reasonable that we mistake it for truth.

We’ll explore what happens when the amygdala (your body’s bodyguard) hijacks your logic, how the prefrontal cortex tries to clean up the story, and how that split-second loop turns into lifelong hesitation.

From posting your first TikTok to confessing your feelings to someone you like, you’ll see how fear dresses up as logic to keep you “safe.” Through real stories, neuroscience receipts, and the viral elevator metaphor, I'll shows you how comfort can become a cage — and how to press the button that moves you forward.

    Key Takeaways:

    • A limiting belief is just fear that has been learned to sound convincing.
    • How the amygdala–prefrontal tug-of-war creates the safety loop.
    • What negative reinforcement and the “low-road” fear pathway mean in real life.
    • Signs you’re safe and stuck — and how to start rewiring the loop.
    • The challenge: identify what triggers your nervous system, sit with it, and ask, “Is this fear or fact?

This episode kicks off the Limiting Belief Series with a raw, practical look at the invisible line between who we are and who we’re becoming.

I break down what limiting beliefs really are, how they quietly script our choices, and why “just think positive” doesn’t work when your brain is built for comfort.

Through stories, science made simple, and that unforgettable “bug-on-paper” metaphor, you’ll learn to spot the mental stories that whisper you can’t—and rewrite them in real time.

Expect truth, humor, and a gentle push to stop walking in circles and take one honest step forward.

    You’ll learn to:

    • Catch the belief hiding after your “because”
    • Question if your reason is real or recycled
    • Replace fear with one small act of proof
    • Recognize when your circle normalizes stuckness

  • #7: when ONE no stops the show: intro to negativity bias
    2025/10/13

Have you ever noticed how one “no” can drown out a hundred “yeses”? In this episode of Thoughts of a Dreamer, Terri unpacks the psychology of negativity bias—the mental habit that makes us fixate on rejection and overlook support. Whether you’re a creator, entrepreneur, or someone trying to bring a dream to life, this episode explores how that single voice of doubt can become louder than every cheer in the room.

Terri shares personal stories and relatable moments that reveal how negativity bias shows up in everyday life—from the six-year-old afraid to sing again after being teased, to the adult second-guessing their work after one small critique. You’ll learn how the brain naturally leans toward fear and how that survival mechanism, left unchecked, can sabotage creative progress and self-belief.

But this isn’t just theory—it’s transformation. Terri walks you through practical ways to retrain your focus, recover emotionally from setbacks, and reclaim momentum. From creating a “proof board” of wins to practicing faster bounce-backs, she shows you how to replace perfectionism with resilience and let data, not doubt, guide your next move.

If you’ve ever felt derailed by rejection or found yourself replaying criticism louder than encouragement, this episode is your reminder that one “no” doesn’t define your dream—it refines it. Tune in and rediscover the power of persistence, perspective, and progress over perfection.

  • #6: how long is too long? is waiting killing the dream?
    2025/10/05

    Send us a text

They say the richest place on earth is the graveyard—where the unwritten books, unsung songs, and unstarted businesses are buried. In this episode of Thoughts of a Dreamer, I share a story that changed how I think about fear, timing, and taking action on my dreams.

During a flight back from Amsterdam, I met a music executive who turned a midnight idea into a next-day mission. No waiting. No overthinking. Just execution. That conversation made me realize how easily we confuse preparation with procrastination and how fear of failure disguises itself as “planning.”

We talk about why overthinking kills creativity, how to stop waiting for the “right time,” and what it really means to give your dreams oxygen before they fade. This is for the dreamer stuck in pause mode—the one sitting on ideas that could change everything if only they’d start.

If you dreamed it, you can do it. Don’t let your ideas die in your head—bring them to life while they still have breath.
