In this sermon from John 6:4–14, Pastor James Brown Jr. considers the feeding of the five thousand and the words, “He Himself knew what He would do.” Set near the Passover, this great sign reveals Jesus as the true Bread-giver, the greater Moses, the promised Prophet, and the Shepherd who feeds His people in the wilderness.

As Jesus tests Philip and exposes the insufficiency of the disciples, He shows that human calculation, earthly resources, and visible strength are never enough in themselves. Five barley loaves and two small fish are nothing among so many, unless they are placed in the hands of Christ.

This message calls the Church to trust the sovereign sufficiency of Christ, to receive His God-given signs rightly, and to labor faithfully even in days of weakness, smallness, and overwhelming need. Christ knows how to feed His people, build His Church, and make weak means abound for His glory.
