In this first week of imolc, the Gaelic celebration of the return of Spring, I want to offer a comparison of sorts, between the U.S. in 2026 and Germany starting from the 1920’s to when Hitler decided to start invading other countries.

In comparing the U.S. under Trump 2.0 now, to what the Nazis took over a decade to accomplish, Trump is racing to do it all within his current term. I’m not the only one to talk about this over the last year since Trump and his crew started their rampage but the latest events in the news made me want to lay this out. They’re not mirror images exactly, but the parallels are pretty hard to ignore.

So, gather round, sit you down somewhere comfortable for a bit and let me air my thoughts about all of this for you. If I say the things we’re thinking out loud, maybe more of us will be emboldened to speak out more.

At this point, I’ve lost all respect for the U.S. government now and the sooner Trump is gone, the sooner the world can start breathing normally again.

Between publicly coming out and lying about a murdered young woman being a domestic terrorist, declaring the ICE agent who shot her immune from prosecution, before the evidence was presented one way or the other, piracy on the high seas, and more aggressive statements to the world about taking over the governments of Greenland, Cuba and Colombia, Trump is making life in the U.S. a lot harder for the rest of us.
