Lucas, a college basketball player, became the prime suspect after his story began to unravel. He claimed he took Kelsie to Parkview Medical Center, where she supposedly had a miscarriage—but the hospital had no record of her being there [citation:1]. He said they went to Walmart for snacks, but security footage showed only one person getting out of her car [citation:1]. Surveillance video also captured him using her debit card to withdraw $400 from her bank account [citation:4]. Her car was found abandoned a week later at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital [citation:1].
In 2016, a woman named Lauren Suhr, determined to find the truth, contacted Lucas on Facebook, befriended him, and eventually dated him for about a year [citation:1].
