概要

Welcome to the Uncharted Sounds Podcast. Formerly known as The Uncharted 80’s Podcast, we’ve expanded our horizons to bring you even more of the music you love. With a fresh name comes fresh flexibility while we’ll still dive deep into the hidden gems of the 80s, we’re now exploring uncharted sounds from the 70s, 90s, and beyond. the format stays the same as we deliver informative and hopefully captivating band biographies and exclusive interviews with the artists who shaped these decades of music that were often under the radar and may have been forgotten by some. What they have in common in our view, is that their stories or their music has been uncharted. They may have left a lasting impact on some of us and it's time to celebrate them. Get ready to uncover their history, sounds, information, what we think and untold stories. We will talk to those that were involved and the impact they had on us and still do! Same passion for music, broader horizons.

  • Carter USM - Interview with Jim Bob
    2026/04/15

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine or Carter USM were a South London band around From 1988 - initially splitting after 10 years in 1998. In that time they achieved a number 1 album, headlined the Glastonbury pyramid stage and sold over a million records. Their sound was a soundscape of energy - layering thrashing guitars over backing tracks of samples, sequenced basses and drum machines. The lyrics were rich in social commentary and loaded with clever wordplay. Their gigs were riot of blinding white light, crowd-surfing mayhem. Formed by Jim Bob and Fruitbat in this episode we chat to Jim Bob about the band, his solo career and everything in between.

The Interview and chat with Jim Bob starts at 25.11 minutes.

  • The Bluetones - Mark Morriss Interview - Episode 36
    2026/03/12

Today’s episode is about a band who, for a brief moment in the mid-1990s, were right at the centre of British music — and yet somehow in our opinion never quite get spoken about in the same breath as the biggest Britpop names. This is the story of The Bluetones. The band has scored thirteen top 40 singles and three top 10 albums on the UK charts. They also in 1996 knocked Oasis off the top spot with their debut album. We feature a career spanning interview with Mark Morriss who shares many stories and anecdotes and also talks about the 30th Anniversary of Expecting to Fly and their plans for 2026.

Details are on the link below on their website and this also includes details of their new album Atlas which is released in May this year 2026.

  • Graham Parker - Episode 35 - Interview with Graham Parker
    2026/02/12

This episode features an Interview with Graham Parker, its a career spanning interview that hopefully covers questions that he doesn't often get asked (check out the Clowns one !)

Graham Parker began his recording career in 1976 with Howlin’ Wind, backed by The Rumour, quickly establishing himself as one of the leading figures of the UK pub-rock and early new-wave era. Over the next five years, Graham Parker and The Rumour released a run of albums including Heat Treatment, Stick to Me, The Up Escalator, and Squeezing Out Sparks, all of which charted in the UK, with several reaching the Top 40, while Squeezing Out Sparks became his highest-profile release in the United States and his strongest performer on the Billboard 200. After leaving The Rumour in 1981, Parker continued as a solo artist, releasing a steady stream of albums throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s on both major and independent labels. He reunited with The Rumour for new albums beginning with Three Chords Good in 2012, followed by additional studio and live releases, while also maintaining an active solo career. Through the 2020s, Parker continued to release new material, tour, and collaborate, remaining an active recording and performing artist through 2025, with a catalog spanning nearly five decades.

His Howlin' Wind debut album is subject of a terrific book by Jay Nachman (link attached...https://jaynachman.com/graham-parkers-howlin-wind/)

As usual the episode has a short biography of Graham and the Interview starts at 28:31 Minutes
