    2025/10/01

That voice inside that says you are not enough, that shames you for resting or making mistakes, it’s not random. Your inner critic was formed by the voices you grew up hearing: parents, teachers, culture, or community. For Naomi, it came from growing up in a cult where constant criticism and judgment became her inner soundtrack.

In this episode, Naomi shares how the critic develops as a survival mechanism, why it follows us into adulthood, and how to begin retraining it with compassion.

    QUOTE OF THE EPISODE:

“One of the most powerful and painful truths about healing is realizing that the voice that criticizes you the loudest often isn’t yours. It’s an echo.”

    TO ASK YOURSELF GENTLY:

When my inner critic speaks, whose voice is it echoing? And what new, compassionate truth do I choose to speak to myself instead?

For so many of us, strength was taught all wrong. We grew up hearing “toughen up, stop crying, don’t be the victim”. We learned to swallow our feelings, armor up, and carry everything in silence. But that’s not a strength. That’s survival.
