Jesus' baptism in water is acting out the baptism of fire that will occur at the 2nd Coming.
God promised He would never flood the earth (baptism of water) again, but a new heaven and earth awaits us which will be revealed by fire. 2 Peter 3:6-7
The baptism of fire occurs in two stages, An inward baptism of fire that Moses saw in the burning bush. Ex. 3:2 The bush was not consumed, it burned in the midst (inner) part of the bush. This is symbolic of how the living and active word of God burns and purifies us from within. God told Moses to take off his sandals because he was on holy ground. Ex. 3:5 . John said he was not worthy to unbuckle Jesus' sandal signifying Holy ground John 1:27; Mark 1:7 The outward baptism of fire occurs at the 2nd Coming when we receive new glorified bodies and our works are tried by fire.
Our terrestrial bodies will become celestial bodies. 1 Cor. 3:13-15; Ps 19:1; 1 Cor. 15:40-44
