  • Larry Millete: Investigation, Arrest, and Custody War
    2026/04/16

This is Part 4 of a five-part series on the Larry Millete case. This episode covers three overlapping storylines: the investigation that led to Larry's arrest, the family's search efforts, and the custody battle over Maya and Larry's three children. The investigation timeline: Larry hired an attorney and stopped cooperating in February 2021. Reports surfaced in April that he wanted to hire someone to harm the man Maya was allegedly seeing. In May, police seized his firearms under a GVRO after the children reported feeling unsafe. In July, he was named a person of interest. On October 19, 2021, he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and possession of an assault weapon. DA Summer Stephan publicly detailed the evidence and asked the public to help locate Maya's body. The custody timeline: Maricris Drouaillet filed for guardianship in November 2021. Larry's parents opposed. The case was delayed by Larry's competency proceedings, financial disputes, and deposition delays. The guardian ad litem recommended Maricris, noting that Larry's parents had blocked therapy and undermined visitation. Judge Ronald Frazier ruled in Maricris's favor on August 12, 2024. The children moved to Riverside County.Larry Millete has pleaded not guilty. Trial set for May 11, 2026.

  • Larry Millete's Spellcasters, Subliminals, and Sedatives
    2026/04/14

This is Part 2 of a five-part series covering the Larry Millete case ahead of the May 2026 trial. This episode focuses entirely on the evidence of Larry's escalating attempts to control Maya — the methods prosecutors say reveal his mindset in the months before she vanished.Beginning in September 2020, Larry contacted multiple online spellcasters and spent over $1,000 on services ranging from love spells to requests for physical harm against Maya. His earliest emails asked for a "powerful love spell to bind my wife to me forever." By December 2020, he was requesting hexes to cause broken bones and accidents — injuries that would make Maya dependent on him. The emails stopped on January 7, 2021, the last day Maya was seen.Simultaneously, Larry placed subliminal audio devices throughout the family home. His search history included "subliminal wife training." Maya found a phone under the bed and confronted him. She stopped taking vitamins he provided, telling him they made her drowsy. Her digital diary entries suggested she believed she was being poisoned. Larry's Google search history from December 2020 included Rohypnol and other incapacitating sedatives. All of this evidence — emails, search histories, purchases, device placements — was recovered through search warrants and presented during the January 2023 preliminary hearing. Larry Millete has pleaded not guilty.

  • Larry Millete: The Warnings Maya Left Behind
    2026/04/13

This is Part 1 of a five-part series covering the full story of Larry Millete and the disappearance of Maya Millete from Chula Vista, California. If you're following the Millete case ahead of the May 2026 trial, this series covers everything — from the marriage to the investigation to the courtroom.Maya Millete told multiple family members the same thing in the weeks before she vanished: if something happens to me, look at Larry. She said it to her sister Maricris during a New Year's Eve family trip. She said it to her sister-in-law Genesis. She communicated it to a stranger at a law firm. On January 6, 2021, she texted Larry in all caps that she no longer wanted to be his wife. She had an appointment with a divorce attorney set for January 12.In this episode, we cover who Maya was — born in the Philippines, raised in Honolulu, a University of Hawai'i graduate who built a career with the U.S. Navy. We trace the marriage from high school sweethearts to the breaking point in 2020, when Maya moved out temporarily and Larry's behavior escalated from controlling to something investigators would later call frantic and unbalanced. We cover the tracking, the isolation, the text messages, and Maya's own words documenting what was happening to her. Larry Millete has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

  • The Larry Millete Story: He Paid for Magic Spells — Then His Wife Disappeared
    2026/04/09
Maya Millete vanished on January 7th, 2021 — the same day she quietly contacted a divorce attorney and came home to Chula Vista for what would be the last time anyone saw her. Two minutes before her Jeep pulled up to the house, her husband Larry fired off one final email to a spell caster. A neighbor's security camera picked up a series of loud banging sounds from the property that night. By 1:25 AM, Maya's phone had gone silent. No surveillance footage in that neighborhood ever caught her walking away. The investigation that followed uncovered something most seasoned detectives say they've never seen. Larry Millete allegedly funneled over $1,100 into payments to people he believed possessed supernatural powers — an obsession that began with binding love spells and descended into written requests for Maya to suffer broken bones, develop cancer, experience chronic nightmares, and become so physically helpless she'd have no choice but to rely on him. Hidden speakers were recovered throughout the family home, planted to broadcast subliminal audio — Larry's own search history included the term "subliminal wife training." Separate searches turned up Rohypnol, Flunitrazepam, and queries about common medications that could render an adult unconscious. An alleged shrine to the marriage — a photo flanked by candles and what looked like blood-red wax — was found in the home. Maya's private journals documented a growing belief that the vitamins Larry gave her were making her sick deliberately. A close friend told investigators Larry had physically choked Maya to the point of unconsciousness. A Chula Vista police officer told the court directly that on at least one occasion Larry punched through the drywall beside a locked bathroom door to reach her.The day after Maya was last seen, Larry took the family's black Lexus out for more than eleven hours — phone left at home, no GPS trail, no witnesses, no consistent story about where he went. He approached a neighbor afterward and asked them to detail the vehicle. When investigators examined his phone, every message exchanged between him and Maya before January 9th had been wiped.Five years on, a jury still hasn't heard a single word of this case. The most recent postponement landed January 28th, 2026 — eleven days before what multiple attorneys had characterized publicly as an immovable March 9th start date. Larry's defense team cited undisclosed family hardship. Maya's sister Maricris addressed the court directly, telling the judge that their elderly parents have no guarantee of how much time they have left — that they rise each morning carrying the weight of an unanswered question. The judge ruled in the defense's favor regardless. The trial is now calendared for May 11th, 2026.Larry Millete maintains his innocence and has entered a not guilty plea. His legal team has put forward an alternative theory — that Maya carried professional secrets serious enough to motivate her own disappearance, and that Larry was deliberately positioned to absorb the blame. Tony Brueski examines that argument with the same rigor he applies to the prosecution's case. No shortcuts. No predetermined conclusions. Before she disappeared, Maya Millete said the same thing to her sister, her brother, and a receptionist at a law firm she called from her cell phone: if anything happens to me, it was Larry. Her parents are still alive. They are still waiting. And somewhere in Chula Vista, a courtroom has a May date circled on a calendar that has already been erased eight times before.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
