Terry is a native of Searcy, Arkansas, but moved to Nashville in the 1970s to pursue a career in the music industry as a drummer, including a stint working as the first drummer for country legend, Patty Loveless! Terry relocated to the Smithville area some two decades ago, and continues to play music for a couple of local bands, while also working on various other projects.
