An underground city in Havre built by businessmen who refused to stop working after a fire burned their town to the ground. A garden of one thousand Buddhas on the Flathead Indian Reservation. A toxic lake in Butte that killed ten thousand snow geese and is now hosting breakthrough medical research.

Strange? Yes. But also completely, authentically, stubbornly Montana.

Max has been walking this state for longer than most people have been alive. He has opinions. He has stories. He once tried to hum along with the Ringing Rocks and was asked to stop by a geological surveyor. He considers that a compliment.
