    2025/07/02

    Join us for the brilliance of Professional Geek Amy Hogan, she’ll make you rethink and reframe disability, and help bridge that gap between the experiences of a parent of a disabled child and the experience of the disabled person themselves.

She discusses the outcomes we really should be focusing on with our children, as well as challenging concepts around disability and helping us to confront our own (and other people’s) Ableism.

    There is SO much we cover, that we’ve had to split this episode in two. Join us on Friday for our bonus episode where Rachel, Sarah and Lucy reflect on the magnificent wisdom of Amy.

  • The Weight of Unmet Needs: Grief and Trauma in a Broken System | S4 | E37
    2025/06/11

    Grief comes in all shapes and sizes, be that anticipatory, or following the death of a child. In Rachel’s authentic and resonant conversation with Gabriella Walker, she reflects on how grief can be made more complex, and more difficult when the services she worked for failed to support her daughter and family in a way she needed.

    In one of our broadest episodes to date, we cover how it feels to work within a system you thought would be there to catch you but doesn’t, and how hard it is when you realise you’ve been failed by something you believe in. You can find out about the fantastic work Gabriella is doing to support families on her website https://irisfamilysupport.org

    We also talk about;

    • bereavement and complex grief
    • systems generated trauma
    • how a universal health care system struggles even more when faced with complex disability
    • the importance of self compassion
