  • 78 - Jason Hendy - Impulse Racing and Gloucester Ski Club
    2025/10/24

Welcome to episode 78 of the podcast, this week featuring Jason Hendy. I worked with Jason this winter at a race we were running in Les Crosets and we started a really interesting chat about ski boots but we didn't get a chance to finish it and that is what this podcast is. It's very much a follow up to episode 77 with Tom Gellie and we touch on a lot of the same topics about boots and this episode deliberately follows that one as a continuation of that topic. Jason has thought deeply about this topic of boots and getting the right set up for you, then the conversation moves on to coaching on the dry slope in the UK, working with kids on a week to week basis and how to go fast on a dry slope. I loved chatting with Jason and it really comes across in this podcast. You can find Jason here: https://www.instagram.com/alpin_ish/ https://www.facebook.com/jason.hendy.7 Happy listening Dave dave@snow-pros.ski www.snow-pros.ski/lessons

  • 77 - Tom Gellie, Big Picture Skiing - Skiing in rental boots
    2025/09/25

Welcome to episode 77 of The Ski Instructor Podcast this week featuring Tom Gellie of Big Picture Skiing. This podcast was prompted by a recent viral Facebook post that Tom put together based on his recent experience of skiing in rental boots at Ski Dubai. We talk extensively about the reasons why rental boots are like they are, what the purpose of them are and how quickly you need to get out of them in order to progress. As usual with Tom and I, we ended up on a bunch of tangents about different stuff to do with boots and customising them to suit your own body. To find out more about Tom, you can go back and listen to my previous episode where I interviewed Tom extensively, the link to that is here. https://open.spotify.com/episode/0CaBF1sZ3IG1xkC5PpLqqk?si=IWMpLd0JTLa7D-US3MAHFA I hope you are enjoying skiing wherever you are and I'll catch you on the next episode. Happy listening. Dave dave@snow-pros.ski https://www.snow-pros.ski/ski-lessons music by www.bensound.com

  • 76 - Anna Norlin Berg and Joel Baudin - Swedish Ski Instructors, school directors, examiners and demo team, Skidlärarpodden
    2025/08/26

Welcome to episode 76 of the Ski Instructor Podcast, featuring Anna Norlin Berg and Joel Baudin. Anna and Joel are the hosts of the popular Swedish ski instructor podcast 'Skidlärarpodden'. When they aren't doing that, Joel and Anna are working ski instructors.

Joel runs the ski school in Kittelfjäll and is an instructor and course leader within Friluftsfrämjandet (The Swedish Outdoor Organization) for the past eight years. He's involved in instructor education through Friluftsfrämjandet and is a passionate moguls skier. Anna is involved in training leaders and ski instructors in Friluftsfämjandet, and is chairman of the Swedish ski exams. She is an Alpine ski coach in Kungsbergets AK for U14 and U16. She was a member of the Swedish demo team in Pomporovo and Levi.

We had a very wide ranging chat covering the backstory for Anna and Joel, instructor systems in Sweden, the technical models, hockey (again, sorry!), interski and falling off of bicycles. I loved chatting with these two and it's a fun interview. If you'd like to listen to the interview that they did with me, you can find it here: https://skidlararpodden.se/episodes/dave-burrows-on-coaching-community-and-carving-your-own-path-in-the-alps Happy listening Dave

    2025/07/24

Welcome to episode 75 of the Ski Instructor Podcast, this week featuring Max Colvin, who you would have heard of me talk about on the podcast previously and who is the SnowPros Ski School Director of Snowsports.

Max holds the Valasian Patente and looks after the team here at SnowPros. I find Max to be an incredibly interesting guy who thinks deeply about skiing and everything else and I just had to get an interview with him for the pod. We touched on lots of different topics, to do with how we teach skiing, our journeys to full cert, how surfing differs from snowsports and plenty more. Max runs a successful surfboard manufacturing company, Hand Laid Eggs and if you surf, you should definitley check out his boards https://www.handlaideggs.co.uk/ he cares deeply about what he does. You can tell from this episode that Max and I know each other quite well by now. The interview is very relaxed and is a real deparature in style from the usual interview. Happy listening and see you on the next one. Dave dave@snow-pros.ski www.snow-pros.ski
