  • Sk8LikeYou Podcast Episode 120: Tim Arnold
    2026/06/07

On this episode of the SK8LIKEYOU Podcast, I’m joined by Tim Arnold for a conversation that goes far beyond skating.

March 15, 2026 would become a date that changed everything for Tim and his partner Megan. While traveling home from one of the biggest shuffle skating events in the country, the two were involved in a devastating car accident that left Megan with catastrophic injuries.

What happened next says everything about the skating community.

Tim explains that he has only been seriously skating for about five years, but in the middle of one of the hardest moments of their lives, none of that mattered. Support immediately began pouring in from skaters and supporters around the world. Messages, encouragement, prayers, and even real financial help came from people who understood how overwhelming the toll of something like this can become. The skate community showed up for Tim and Megan in a way they never could have imagined.

Despite everything they continue to face, their spirits remain unbelievably strong. Tim wanted to make sure everyone who reached out knows just how grateful they truly are as Megan continues her healing journey.

This is a powerful episode about resilience, perspective, community, and the people who show up when life changes in an instant.

This month on the SK8LIKEYOU Podcast Topic Show, I’m joined by co-host Liz Brown of Rink Rat Chat and special guest Brad Armstrong, owner of multiple roller skating rinks across the United States including Roller Kingdom in Reno, Nevada, The Rink in Sacramento, California, Top Gun Skate Center in Fallon, Nevada, and Cortland Roller Rink in Cortland, Ohio.

Brad gives real insight from the owner’s perspective about why some rinks thrive while others struggle to survive. We talk about the biggest mistakes rink owners make, how skating culture has changed over the years, what skaters expect from a modern rink experience, and what it really takes behind the scenes to keep a rink operating successfully.

This conversation goes far beyond just business. We talk about community, music, culture, leadership, consistency, and the responsibility that rink owners have in helping keep roller skating alive for future generations.

    2026/05/26

This bonus episode of the SK8LIKEYOU Podcast was recorded live on location at the legendary Cortland Roller Rink during Spring Bling 2026. From skating legends who helped shape the culture, to the regulars who keep these sessions alive every week, to the next generation already carving out their own lane, this episode is all about the people who make roller skating what it is.

Throughout the night I grabbed conversations with skaters from every era and every style to talk about what keeps them rolling, how the culture continues to evolve, and why events like Spring Bling still matter. Different perspectives, different stories, but the same love for skating that connects everybody in the building.

This is the kind of episode that captures the energy you can only get inside a packed rink during a major event. The music, the stories, the history, the laughs, the generations all sharing the same floor together. Real conversations with real skaters exactly where skaters live.

  • Sk8LikeYou Podcast Episode 116: Greggo aka @thatsgregg0
    2026/05/24

Episode 116 of the SK8LIKEYOU Podcast features a content creator in the skating world that is probably making frequent appearances in your social media feeds lately… Greggo (instagram.com/thatsgregg0)

This was actually Greggo’s very first official podcast appearance and from the second we started talking, I knew this conversation was going somewhere completely different than I expected.

What started as a discussion about skating and content creation quickly turned into one of the deepest conversations I’ve had yet about internet culture, trolling, cancel culture, comedy, social media psychology and what it really means to create content in today’s world. Greggo opens up about how his page evolved from simply posting skate clips into becoming a full blown content platform, how he connected with creators like Ant Banks and why so many people completely misunderstand the difference between trolling and actual malicious intent.

We also get into the role comedy plays in exposing uncomfortable truths and talk about everything from Howard Stern and Druski to Shane Gillis, Kevin Hart roasts and how internet outrage has completely changed the way people interact online. A lot of this conversation honestly felt bigger than skating itself because so much of what we discussed applies to culture as a whole right now.

Of course, we also dug deep into skating. Greggo talks about growing up skating Sundays at Roller Dome in Virginia with his mom, the moment his entire perspective changed after discovering real skate culture at Greenbriar, and how traveling to national events made him realize just how massive and connected the skating world really is. We also had a really honest conversation about regional styles, shuffle skating, East Coast skating influence and the deep history of roller skating in America including discussing a period in U.S. history where legally enforced segregation at roller rinks across the country was a very real thing. We talked about how those realities shaped rink culture, regional identities and skating communities in ways many people still do not fully realize today.

This episode honestly turned into one of the most thought provoking conversations I’ve had on the podcast in a long time and I think a lot of people are going to take something from it whether they agree with everything said or not.

  • Sk8LikeYou Podcast Episode 115: Ty VanHoose aka @TYON8S
    2026/05/17

At just 11 years old and on the verge of turning 12, Ty VanHoose, better known online as “TyOn8s”, is already turning heads in the skating world. And the craziest part? He’s only been skating for about 7 to 8 months as of today. But if you’ve ever seen him roll, you’d never believe it.

Whether it’s adult nights or major events, Ty has already been holding his own alongside seasoned speed and shuffle skaters from all over the country. I first met Ty at the HeartBreak event earlier this year, and one thing was immediately obvious… this kid is ALL IN.

From day one on skates, Ty has been completely obsessed with improving and finding every possible opportunity to practice. And when it comes to practice, who even needs a rink? Whether it’s sessions in the garage or the basement where his dad, Joshua VanHoose, literally cleared space for him to skate, Ty is constantly putting in work. In fact, that basement practice is where he taught himself how to skate backwards.

Ty’s father Josh has been skating for years, and now skating has become an even deeper way for their family to connect, bond, and spend time together. Recently, Ty started Facebook and TikTok pages simply so extended family around the country could watch his skating journey. But unexpectedly, those videos have started inspiring and encouraging skaters of all ages.

Ty’s parents credit skating as one of the most positive influences in his life, not just at the rink but in school and everyday life as well. And while Ty clearly has natural ability on eight wheels, don’t get it twisted… his rapid progression comes from relentless practice, consistency, and an attitude that refuses to stop improving.

Ty’s positivity, work ethic, and passion for skating are exactly what make this episode so special.

    Skate on, Ty!
