Stuart Ireland led us through this wonderful passage about the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice over and above those old sacrifices of the Levite priesthood. He brought out how those old offerings were shadows pointing to Jesus, offered daily because they are inefficient, and not of the same value as human lives. Jesus Christ on the other hand is the reality, offered once for all, and of infinite worth to remove sin from the elect. The Holy Spirit bears witness about this, swearing upon Himself because there is nothing greater to swear upon, and we ought to believe Him.
