  • Power of the Circular Economy
    2024/09/09

Meet Gauri Shah, the visionary founder of GoodSercle and an unwavering advocate for the circular economy. With over 16 years of experience in the whitegoods industry and a diverse background spanning retail and travel sectors, Gauri’s entrepreneurial journey is deeply rooted in environmental sustainability and social impact.

Her passion for eco-friendly solutions began in 2009 when she founded Sunny Electronics, with a focus on reducing the environmental footprint of whitegoods.

Over the years, witnessing the mounting challenge of e-waste and its detrimental impact on the planet, Gauri sought to address this head-on. In response, she established GoodSercle—a trailblazing social enterprise dedicated to promoting circular practices, particularly in the recycling and refurbishment of electronic devices and household appliances.

At GoodSercle, Gauri and her team are on a mission to minimize e-waste and extend the life cycle of whitegoods through innovative recycling techniques. Their work not only diverts waste from landfills but also offers consumers sustainable and affordable appliance options. Through her efforts, Gauri hopes to raise awareness of the importance of responsible disposal and the immense potential of the circular economy to preserve our precious natural resources.

By fostering collaboration and education, Gauri invites individuals and organizations to join her in creating a more sustainable future.

  • Challenging the Right Fit
    2024/07/30

There are people who think they will do something about something, and then there are people who actually end up doing that something. And that has been the case for Sabrina Maddock, who has amply used all the different 'things' that have come her way to create Avanti Search.

Sabrina is a diversity & inclusion advocate - she has Chaired the Disability Inclusion Advisory Panel for the City of Sydney as well as consulted with the Australian Museum, and has a lived experience of disability. Sabrina has spoken on the topics of diversity, religion, stereotyping, media influence and gender equality and has raised awareness of the challenges in these fields as a former Miss World Australia (2nd Runner Up at Miss World) and 'The Apprentice: Australia' contestant. She writes about her experiences in the Allen & Unwin book 'Coming of Age: Growing Up Muslim in Australia', and is also a member of Mensa!

Keeping all these accolades in mind, I just had to speak with Sabrina to find out the how, the why and the backstory. And that's what you hear in this epic episode. It's not just about her business, Avanti Search, but also what led her to be one of the Top 20 Australian Women Making Moves (2022), and sought after thought leader. I was also curious to find out how she manages all her multipassionate identities - including geekiness and passion for Dungeons & Dragons. So tune in, and learn-unlearn-relearn how you too can ''Challenge the (idea of) the 'right' fit' , and thrive like Sabrina does.

  • Power of Purpose
    2024/02/22

Maryann Tsai describes herself as a 'complicated' person, but as a multipassionate complicated person. She has a varied interest in lots of fields, and is a self confessed foodie, a baking enthusiast, an engineer by background, a mother, a community leader and much more.

In  this episode we talk about how she found her purpose with Reach Her Inc., and how she moved through different phases of life to reach there. There are some really key crossroads that got Maryann to do a deep dive, and fashion her path - when nothing was available as per her needs and desires.

We've spoken about the hardships her parents faced when they migrated here, and we touched on how it was a different experience for her as she grew up here in Perth. We talked about the very high mental load that comes with choosing to give up a flourishing career to take care of our child/ren, and how through the years of child caring / being a stay at home parent changes our needs and wants.

We talked about how we can work together as a community to bust some common myths about migrants, about how migrants positively impact the communities they call home and very importantly about the idea of 'giving back'.

I am sure you are going to be very inspired by this 'different' voice, doing 'different' things and how you can do it too.
