  • Episode 20 /100 - Burnout growth and compassion
    2026/08/20

Burnout can change you, but it doesn’t have to destroy you or spell the end and it doesn’t have to define what comes next.

A conversation about my own burnout experience, post-traumatic growth, why compassion is essential to recovery, what this means for your school/workplace and how we can emerge from burnout with a different relationship with ourselves, our work and our lives.

  • Episode 19 of 100 - what do we do with all the capacity we are going to create?
    2026/08/10

Too often, we measure it by how much a person can do, how much pressure they can absorb, how productive they are or how well they keep going when life gets difficult.

But what if that isn't capacity at all?

In this episode, I explore a different understanding of human capacity. One that recognises that life is inevitably complex, that emotion is part of being human, and that sometimes life will absolutely floor us. Capacity isn't about becoming someone who can carry more and keep functioning regardless. It is about what we are able to create through life's inevitable life-ness, and our ability to experience, navigate and enrich our lives within it.

We explore what happens when we stop treating human capacity as an infinite resource, and start asking what expands the whole human being. What enables us to think, feel, connect, respond, create, recover and experience more of our own lives?

And what does that mean for the environments we create, the way we lead, the way we educate and the systems we build around people?

AI enters the conversation too, not as the answer, but as an opportunity to question what we do with capacity when technology creates more of it.

Because perhaps the real measure of progress isn't how much more a human being can do.

It's how much more of being human becomes possible.

  • Day 18 of 100 - why staff capacity shapes academic success AND the development of the whole human
    2026/07/28

Teenage behaviour and their learning has been categorised as a cocktail of bad choices and hormonal drama.

But modern neuroscience shows that what’s actually happening inside a teenager’s head is a massive, structural demolition and rebuilding project, a process called arborisation.

During these years, their brains are hyper-specialising, upgrading to communication speeds much faster than in childhood. It is a breathtaking window of opportunity where they can unlock their highest academic capabilities and step into their full potential as whole human beings.

But here is the catch: this hyper-plastic, rapidly changing brain is incredibly vulnerable. Chronic stress, toxic academic pressure, and addictive digital algorithms don't just distract them, they can permanently alter the physical architecture of their minds, pruning away the very pathways needed for deep focus and emotional resilience.

So, how do we protect this fragile masterpiece?

    We start with the staff.

In this episode, we explore a profound, often unspoken truth: teachers create the biological conditions for a child's success.

But your teachers don’t leave their own history at the school gates. Every adult in the classroom is the product of their own childhood wiring, and when their emotional capacity is pushed to the limit, their ability to support our youth is compromised. And some are still in that window themselves.

Join us as we dive deep into the neurobiology of school culture. We will look at why safeguarding your staff's well-being isn't just a "nice-to-have" initiative, it is the primary, biological condition required to build resilient, brilliant, and whole human minds.
