概要
In this episode of the Why Not Today podcast, Leslie Kane shares a simple but powerful reminder about the value of collaboration and fresh perspective.
Have you ever had something sitting on your to do list for months that should only take an hour? Maybe it is organizing a room, finishing a project, making a decision, or finally taking the next step in your business.
Leslie shares a story from a recent weekend when she and a friend decided to tag team some projects. They spent the weekend painting her bedroom and her friend’s basement, making a few trips to Home Depot along the way, and enjoying the process of getting things done together.
While they were moving furniture in the bedroom, Leslie casually mentioned that she never watches the TV in there anymore. Her friend looked at it and asked a simple question.
“Then why do you still have it?”
That one question led to removing the TV, the stand, and the cable running along the baseboard that had been collecting dust for years. Suddenly the room felt lighter, calmer, and more intentional.
It was a perfect reminder that sometimes we stay stuck not because we do not know what to do, but because we have been looking at the same situation for so long that we cannot see it any other way.
Leslie also talks about the idea of lateral mentors. These are the people who walk beside us in life and business. They may not be far ahead of us, but they offer fresh perspective, encouragement, and ideas that can help us move forward faster.
When we invite collaboration into our lives, decisions often become easier and momentum builds.
Highlights from this episode
• Why collaboration often helps us solve problems faster than trying to figure everything out alone
• How “lateral mentors” provide valuable perspective and help us see situations differently
• Why one simple question can turn something you have avoided for months into immediate action
If there is something you have been putting off, consider inviting someone into the process. A friend, colleague, or peer might be the person who helps you see the next step more clearly.
Take a moment this week and ask yourself one simple question. Who could help me look at this differently? Then take the next step.
