  • Why Do Some People NOT Understand ADHD?
    2023/03/28

Welcome to "Why Don't Some People Understand ADHD?" - a podcast where we explore the misconceptions and misinformation surrounding ADHD.

We'll delve into the myths that surround ADHD, like how it's just a lack of focus, that it's just bad parenting, or that it's made up entirely. We'll discuss how ADHD is an invisible disability, and how that can make it difficult for people to understand the daily struggles that come with it.

We'll also explore how comparisons with neurotypical individuals can be harmful and unproductive. It's easy for someone without ADHD to say, "Just focus harder," or "Try harder," but it's not that simple.

Through stories, personal experiences, and expert interviews, we'll examine why it's so hard for some people to understand ADHD. We'll explore how ADHD affects motivation, and how it's not just a matter of trying harder.

At the end of the day, we hope to change the narrative around ADHD and create a more inclusive and understanding society. So, whether you have ADHD or not, join us on this journey of discovery and understanding. Remember, we're playing basketball with baseball cleats, and it's time for a change.

    2023/03/20

For coaching or business inquiries, please email rj@iliocoaching.com.

Welcome to the podcast where we discuss ADHD Paralysis - What it is and what to do when it hits. If you or someone you know has ADHD, you may have experienced the feeling of being stuck and unable to move forward with tasks or goals. We are here to help by sharing tips and strategies on how to manage this feeling.

Firstly, ADHD paralysis is not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. You may not even realize it's coming until you're in it. It's a feeling of being stuck in a low mood and finding it challenging to get started with anything. This feeling can last for a day, weeks or even months, depending on the individual.

Examples of ADHD paralysis can be going from high to low and staying low. It can be a lack of motivation, difficulty focusing, and feeling overwhelmed with even small tasks.

However, there are ways to help when it hits. It's essential to talk about it and reach out to a support system, whether that be a friend or a professional. Doing something different can also help break the cycle of feeling stuck, such as going for a walk, changing your environment, or doing a different task that you find more enjoyable.

It's important to remember not to beat yourself up when you get there. Instead, set a bare minimum of what you need to do to get through the day. Celebrate those small wins, no matter how small they may be.

Join us as we delve into this topic and share our own experiences and tips on how to manage ADHD paralysis. Remember, you're not alone, and there are ways to help when it hits.

  • ADHD Does NOT Make You Stupid Here is How:
    2023/03/13

For coaching or business inquiries, please email rj@iliocoaching.com.

In this episode, I'll be sharing my personal story of feeling stupid because I have ADHD. I used to think everyone thought how I think, but I was wrong. It wasn't until I was diagnosed in middle school or high school that I began to understand the impact of ADHD on my life.

I struggled with school, from testing to doing work, and it made me drop out of college. I felt defeated, but in the real world, ADHD actually made me thrive with many things. Being around a community of people who supported me and may have had advice to give was awesome and helped so much.

I learned that finding a way to fill up your energy cup is key because school is not impossible, it's just different for someone who is neurodivergent. Seeking help, guidance, and just support helps to be with someone who is neurodivergent.

I want to emphasize that yes, there are bad people and lazy people, but that's just how the world is. Lazy does not mean you have ADHD. There are lazy people out there who don't have ADHD. There is good and bad in everything, whether you have ADHD or not.

So join me as I share my journey and tips on how to thrive with ADHD. Remember, ADHD does not make you stupid.
