  • The Power of Moments: What Cairns Crocodiles Taught Me [Solo Ep w/Natalie Siagian] Part 1
    2026/07/06

    Send us Fan Mail

A solo recap of Cairns Crocodiles — a creative conference and retreat in Cairns, Far North Queensland bringing together some of the most creative and courageous minds in advertising, media, marketing, and everything creative in between. I really couldn't keep this one to myself.

This is a solo episode, individual and collective highlights from The Personhood where I'm unpacking and doing a deep dive on what I learned, felt, and noticed while representing for the people; independent creatives and creators who don't always get a seat at these tables.

Because that's the whole point of these solo eps: I'm on a mission to create with impact and to educate in real time — not after the fact, not polished into a highlight reel, but as it's actually landing for me.

In this episode, I'm talking about the Power of Moments from Cairns Crocodiles — the small, unplanned, human experiences that end up mattering more than a whole bunch of keynote slides and what this has taught me about creativity, connection, and being the own architect of experiences.

Expect real talk on the ideas that shifted how I think about my own work, the conversations that stuck, and a few honest reflections and stories on what it means to bring a creative-professional lens into rooms that are usually built for bigger agencies.

If you're a creative building your own path, life and business — this one's for you.

  • Finding Flow & A Fun Full-Time Gig Against All Odds: Rethinking Creative Careers with Joren Aranas, Creative Director of Misfits Media Company
    2025/11/18

    Send a text

When @jorenaranas was a kid, he was building wild imaginary worlds out of cardboard and legos. So sitting down with Joren Catalino-Aranas —Creative Director behind some of Australia’s biggest (and let’s be honest, coolest) media and event companies like B&T Australia, Cairns Crocodiles, and The Misfits Media Company—felt a bit like reconnecting with that same childhood magic.

In this episode, we dive into what it really means to find creative flow, freedom, and a fun full-time gig in the creative industry. Spoiler alert: it’s not all lollipops and rainbows.

Joren opens up about the beautifully messy reality of his path—convincing his dad to let him pursue design, navigating ADHD and imposter syndrome, and even the chapter where he was living in his car.

His honesty makes this conversation feel like a warm pep talk for anyone who’s ever felt out of place, underestimated, or unsure whether their creativity could actually pay the bills.

From flipping burgers to mastering graphic design, from college breakthroughs to landing an internship that changed the course of his life, Joren takes us behind the curtain on how he carved his place in a competitive industry. We talk self-advocacy, knowing your worth, negotiating fair pay, stepping into leadership, and the ongoing dance between professional success and personal fulfilment.

Joren’s reframing of imposter syndrome—as a sign you’re expanding, not failing—lands like the gentle shove forward so many creatives need. His journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the magic that happens when you refuse to shrink your dreams.

By the end of the episode, you’ll feel fired up, seen, and reminded that building a creative life you’re obsessed with isn’t just possible—it’s powerful when you give yourself permission to grow boldly, live freely, and create on your own terms.
