In the 1930s, American missionaries H.A. Baker and his wife operated the Adullam Rescue Home in Yunnan, China, sheltering the region's most destitute orphans. The children had been raised on the streets, with no religious training and no knowledge of the Bible. Yet when revival swept the orphanage, they began to report visions of the world beyond death with a consistency and innocence that stunned everyone around them.
This episode tells their story from Baker's classic book Visions Beyond the Veil. As the children hovered between life and death in illness, or were caught up in worship, they described heaven: walls of light, streets of gold, angels singing, and the face of Jesus. They described seeing their own names written in the Book of Life. Some described hell and begged their friends to repent. The children had no way to invent these scenes, Baker insisted, and their visions matched each other in detail after detail.
The visions transformed the orphanage and shaped Baker's ministry for decades. The accounts have been reprinted continuously for nearly a century and have comforted countless families who have lost children. If you have ever asked what happens after death, or wondered what a child sees on the other side, listen to the orphans of the Adullam Rescue Home, who died and came back talking about Jesus.
