  • Ep 42: Finding the Gold in People- w/ guest Jennifer Jones on forging faith, ministry idolatry, calling
    2026/04/20

Ep 42: Finding the Gold in People- Jennifer Jones on forging faith through fire, breaking ministry idolatry, and helping believers run in their calling

In this episode of the Nitty Gritty, Danielle and Shell sit down with Jennifer Jones — ministry leader, entrepreneur, coach, and founder of Illuminate Global Ministry — for a rich, Spirit-filled conversation about what it truly means to build God's kingdom from the inside out.

Jennifer shares her remarkable story: born a miracle child against impossible medical odds, raised in an abusive home, battling depression and suicidal ideation from childhood, and ultimately encountering the Lord at 21. Through decades of inner healing, deliverance, prophetic refinement, and deep intimacy with the Father, she has been forged into a passionate champion of people and their God-given identities.

This episode covers a lot of ground, including:

    • What kingdom building actually looks like — it starts with discipleship, prayer, and speaking to the core of people's identity, not their mistakes. Jennifer talks about the difference between building a platform and building people.
    • Ministry idolatry and how it keeps believers small, insecure, and dependent on the wrong things. Jennifer vulnerably shares a season where the glory lifted because she had unknowingly stepped into receiving glory that belonged to God.
    • Prophetic witchcraft and soul ties — what they are, how to recognize them, and how they can trap people's destinies. Danielle brings in scriptural grounding from Joel 2 and Philippians 2:2.
    • The marketplace calling — why the church building is not the only place God uses his people, and why the 10% Levitical model means 90% were out in the world serving God through their everyday lives and gifts.
    • Practical tools for hearing God's voice — Jennifer shares how she started with simple yes-or-no journaling questions, building confidence in her ability to hear the Holy Spirit over time.
    • The beauty of being moldable — why mistaking God's process for failure is one of the biggest traps believers face, and how to stay flexible when the outcome doesn't look like what you imagined.

    In this episode you will:

-Be encouraged with healthy communication tips.

-Explore and learn how to listen to God’s voice.

    -Differentiate between talents/skills and gifts.

-Ask: Am I listening to God?

-Learn tools to recall God’s words and promises.

-Surrender the outcome of life to God.

Practical communication tools and tips for how to:

    • bring our whole self
    • engage in authentic conversation
    • confidently share appropriate details and emotions
    • operate in maturity and wisdom
    • Process with Jesus

    Scripture:

Psalm 142:1-7 Cry out to God

Joshua 1:8 Meditate day and night

Psalm 37:3-7 Rely on the Lord

1 Corinthians 3:6-11 We plant seeds, God causes the growth

Matthew 22:37-40 Love God, love others

    Psalm 139:14 Uniquely wonderfully made

    Proverbs 19:21-23 Many are a man’s plans

Proverbs 3:5&6 Trust in the Lord

Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 57:2 God has a plan and a purpose

Deuteronomy 5:33, Proverbs 4:14-16, 27; Jeremiah 6:16 Do not swerve to the right or the left

Joshua 1:8 meditate on God’s Word

Ephesians 6 child and parent instructions

    1 Corinthians 3:23 obedience

    Psalm 1:2-3 deeply rooted

John 15:5 He is the vine

We’re not responsible for others’ growth or what they do with their gifts; however, the following are ways we can plant seeds, and be good stewards:

    • Prayer
    • Exhortation
    • Volunteering time
    • Seeing the person at the grocery store

Reference with topic- our role in others’ pain: Reconciling Yourself to the Fact of Sin- My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers, June 24

Quote: “Security and confidence comes from knowing who God is and who He says we are…but there’s more…”

    Key Scripture:

“For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed. Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;” Hebrews 12:10-15 NASB1995

Definitions:Cultivate- to prepare and use (Oxford dictionary)Sanctification- process of being transformed, washed, cleansed, and set apart for God’s purposes. (paraphrased from various scripture and commentary)

    Practical reflection questions:

    1. What are some lies I have believed about myself?
    2. What are truths from God’s Word that inform who I really am?
    3. What is a fear or obstacle getting in the way of me using my gifts?
    4. Do I see my kids’/closest people’s gifts? What are they? How can I help cultivate them?
    5. In what area do I want to grow?
    6. What do I need tilled from the rocky soil in my life?
    7. God what do you want me to know about this topic?

    2025/07/07

    EP 38-Cultivating an Abundant Life

In Episode 38- Danielle Kazarian is speaking live to a group of ladies at one of Higher Vision Valencia's circles-Titus.

Do you feel inadaquate or ill-equipped for the task at hand?

Do you carry all the burdens of your loved-ones?

    Are you exhausted?

    Are you consumed by chaos?

    How do you see yourself?

    What do you call yourself?

Danielle Kazarian encourages women that God's design in the beginning to "multiply" is the same as Jesus' call "to make disciples" (Gen 1:28, Matthew 28:19-20). She leads us through how to teach, train, and equip others in the Lord by answering the question: what is the best way to cultivate healthy soil in our lives?

Through Danielle's life-long journey of killing every plant she tried to keep alive, God has shown her the parallel of plants to a healthy Christian life. You will discover that your identity-how you see yourself-will determine if you are building your life on a solid foundation.

    • Scripture:

      Colossians 2:6,7

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."

      Matthew 7:24

“Anyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. "

      Proverbs 14:1 NASB

"A wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands. "

      Colossians 3:23

"In everything you do, work at it with all your heart..."

      Ephesians 2:10

      "we are God's workmanship..."

      Ephesians 4:1-3

"walk worthy of the calling you have received"

      Application of 1 Corinthians 3:6-8

v 6 While we must honor the calling God has put on our lives to faithfully pour in and cultivate our soil and the grounds of those He’s entrusted to us, we are not responsible for the outcome.

v 7-8 We can neither take credit for their successes, nor walk in shame and guilt of our children’s sin. If we put our trust in Jesus and follow His lead, we must also trust our children are His children before they are ours.

v9-10 "For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

      James 1:7

"Every good and perfect gift is from our Heavenly Father."

What is your real-self vs false-self?

      What are gifts from God?

      Romans 12:2, Romans 12:6-8, Ephesians 4:11, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, and 1 Peter 4:8-10

      Quotes:

"The Bible doesn't say to chase after God...it says ask, seek, search, long for, desire and abide in Him." -Danielle Kazarian

  • EP 37: Keeping it reel- Turn Down the Funk[y] Old Tapes
    2025/06/23

EP 37: Keepin’ it Reel-Turn Down the Funk[y] Old Tapes

In Ep 37 The Nitty Gritty is talking about old tapes–the thoughts, behaviors, or patterns from our past that taunt our mind and captivate our emotions.

Examples of what old tapes may sound like:

-blaming self or someone else instead of asking God, “what are you wanting to show me?”

-confusion, “I thought I was past this?”

-projection- the past replayed in our memory producing shame and reopening wounds

-works-based freedom- “What did I fail to do?”

    - “I’m responsible for my future.”

    - Defining freedom by feelings. Hearing “You’re not free”

    - “I’m alone.”

    - “I’m too free in my freedom.” Using Galatians 5:13-14 to condemn after repentance and releasing it to God.

    In this episode you will:

-Distinguish building altars of remembrance–sacrifice to God, remembering who He is and what He’s done–from setting up altars of death, grieving what’s dead

-Discover the importance of recalling God’s faithfulness

    -Answer questions such as:

    • How do I remember the past without dwelling on the grieving thoughts?
    • How do I turn grief into praise?
    • How do I praise in the grieving?
    • Is it normal to mourn the loss of our old self?

-Learn tips to recall God’s faithfulness in the desert moments and negative thought cycles.

-Discover how God’s light shines on the desert places, His beauty shines through.

-Replace the old tape with a new one filled with the promises of God.

-Turn down the volume on the funky old tapes and turn up the volume on God’s voice.

-Give others the grace to screw up and celebrate what they are doing well

-Speak out, “I’m not partnering with the lie. Thank you Jesus for the reminder that I am free.”

-Define yourself by God’s grace rather than the pain of our past.

    Tips to recall God’s faithfulness:

Repetitive info and different deliveries of the information transfers information from our short-term to long-term memory storage.

    1. Read God’s word

    2. Write it down

    3. Put it on the wall

    4. Speak/Recite it outloud

    5. Talk to someone about it

    6. Engage your senses: create a song, make a dance/hand motions

    Key Scriptures

    Isaiah 43:18-21 NIV

    18 “Forget the former things;

do not dwell on the past.

19 See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness

    and streams in the wasteland.

20 The wild animals honor me,

    the jackals and the owls,

because I provide water in the wilderness

    and streams in the wasteland,

to give drink to my people, my chosen,

21 the people I formed for myself

that they may proclaim my praise.

    Proverbs 26:11 MSG

As a dog eats its own vomit,

    so fools recycle silliness.

    Proverbs 26:11 NLT

As a dog returns to its vomit,

so a fool repeats his foolishness.

Summoning the generations from the beginning?

‘I, the Lord, am the first, and with the last. I am He.”

    Isaiah 41:10

I will strengthen you, I will also help you,

I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

    Psalm 119:88
