概要

 Luna drives a back road near Haverton, Iowa, one humid August night in 2017. Her headlights catch a woman standing in a field of soybeans, barefoot, wearing a white nightgown. The woman doesn't blink. She points toward a farmhouse with all its windows dark. Luna stops. She knows better. But the woman's hand is trembling. And the house—the house has a door that's open just a crack. Inside, the air feels wrong, like it's been breathed too many times. There's a rocking chair rocking on its own. A photograph on the mantel shows a family of three, but the daughter's face has been scratched out. And then the phone rings. It rings and rings, and Luna realizes the cord is cut. This is a story about the things that wait for you to come inside. About a woman named Cora who has been waiting a long time.
