- In 1951, a top-secret government file was dropped on a pub pavement in London and picked up by a drunk man who returned it to his coat and walked away.
- The Cambridge network handed the Soviet Union more than 16,000 classified documents between them.
- Between 1941 and 1945, Cairncross passed 5,832 documents; Burgess passed 4,605; Maclean passed 4,593; Blunt passed 1,771; Philby passed more than 900.
- In 1945 alone, Guy Burgess passed 489 Foreign Office documents to his Soviet handlers in a few months.
- Yuri Modin, the KGB controller, reported that approximately half of the material delivered by the Five was never read by Moscow.
